My first hat of 2022 showed up today, thank you USPS. This is my first Mallory, and it's a little rougher than other vintage hats I have purchased, but still in decent shape. First hat with a back bow too...

Back bow, Diamond crease, and the perfect size too. A bit of minor mothing, but that just gives it character. Nice hat, wear it in good health!

Thanks to @Jesse John for passing on this Whippet. My favorite hats tend to not be the most pristine but those that have the most character—and this one is way up there. Plus it fits perfectly so I know it’s to be getting a lot of head time. Stay well and warm all!

KNIZE "Wien - Bad Gastein, New York - Paris" made by P. & C. Habig Wien, 57 cm possibly early 1960s. This hats was made P. & C. Habig Wien for the famous Wien Men's Bespoke Clothing Store KNIZE "Wien - Bad Gastein, New York - Paris". It's a sporty thin ribbon model with a Rauh Felt Finish with a mix of black and grays. The Felt easily dry creases and is in very good condition. Also has the P. & C. Habig Wien patented ventilation system called "Ventilo".

My wife surprised me with an early anniversary present tonight! She is the best! She bought me a hat I would not have splurged on for myself. It is a Mayser William Panama. It has a 2 5/8 brim, leather sweat band, and is super light and comfortable. Can't wait to wear it.

The next fantastic Homburg from the Norwegian-Greek Christmas gift box:
Borsalino in a medium grey with black crown ribbon and contrasting "rosé" brim binding.
Height centre dent at 11.0 cm, brim width at 5.0 cm
The (probably original) lining says imported by "Brödrene Dobloug"; the sweat I believe
was later exchanged at "Hans H. Holms" in Oslo, where the paper label was lost
(unfortunately missing). Since the lining is sewn in, I think the Borsa is from the (early?) 50s
- maybe even earlier? Does the lining perhaps give another clue?

"Brödrene Dobloug" or "Brødrene Dobloug" was a company in Oslo
founded in 1870 by the brothers Mikkel (1844-1913) and Jens Dobloug (1837-1891).

P. & C. Habig Wien "Special Qualität, 58 cm, 124 grams, possibly mid 1930s. It's difficult to find old P. & C. Habig Wien Stiff Felts in normal sizes and this is a great one. As expected from P. & C. Habig Wien everything (Felt, Components, Construction) is top of top quality. Made for R. Hecht "Theater Passage, Leipzig". Also the fit is perfect so no tweaking needed. There is a "Auto Cape" mark but there is no "Auto Cape" present. My guess is the felt insert was removed. You can learn more about "Auto Cape" below.

The inventor Adolf Sindermann has a good number of hat related patents. His company was a major supplier of felt stumpen and capelines.

P. & C. Habig Vienna " Hausmarke" in a wonderful brown with matching ribbon.
Height centre dent at 11.0 cm; open crown at 15.0 cm; width unbound brim at 5.5 cm
The hat is certainly pre-war, as the dependency "Berlin Friedrichstraße 82a"
did not survive the war as far as I know - I guess later 30s
Unfortunately, the sweat is damaged at the front, as is the lining,
which is loose in many parts - so it needs some work,
but that does not detract from this rare and wonderful hat,
especially as the "size 60" fits me perfectly with a small insert.
(Sorry for the bad photos, but the winter sun rarely shows up at my place...)

First new hat of this year. Meteor bowler. Size 56 with the bound brim at 5cm and the crown at 12cm. Fairly low bowler and a woolfelt one (it is a dustmagnet). I bought it for the rather lovely liner it has. What can you do?
It is an old one and it does show its age here and there. French or Belgian in origin. Meteor isn't actually the brand, but the quality.
