I picked up this Stetson The Sovereign with plans to use it as a beater, but I think it’ll be kinda nice after I clean it up. Anybody have any ideas as to the vintage? The sweatband is identical to my modern RS Strat, but that keyhole size tag with a union label and the plastic liner tip are throwing me off.

I've had one of these before, but it wasn't my size. I thought I might get lucky with this one. Nope. Again not my size.
Huber Chamois in brown. Size 57 (and true to size, dammit) with the bound brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. It's missing its liner, which it must have had at one point judging by the thread that was still under the sweatband. Remarkable felt and fairly lightweight at 100 grams.

Another recent addition. Always happy to find one of these. T&W Lees of Stockport England. Camber style hat in brown (called French Brown on the label), with the brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Still has the high quality finishing of the earlier T&W Lees hats. Size 56 and weighs 107 grams. Really like this style, which I have not seen from them before.

Mallory Premier

Rich chocolate brown felt

4 1/2 crown as shaped

1 5/8 brown grosgrain ribbon

2 1/2 front 2 3/8 sides dimensional brim with 3/8 bound edge

A real heavy brushing removed several decades of dirt, dust and cigarette smoke to reveal the absolutely beautiful rich chocolate brown felt on this Mallory Premier with whippet styling. The liner has the 1817 date which I believe indicates a post 1946 Stetson take over hat. My guess would be a 1950s hat. This hat very very much so looks and feels a whole heck of a lot like my whippet in it’s blocking, proportions and styling as well as felt quality. Really really happy with this hat. Definitely not bad for a “Boys Size 7 Youth Dress Hat”. Thank you to @BobHufford for the enabling on this one!

An unexpected three new hats day. The first I found was this Habig. Never see them here, so a very nice surprise.
At 95 grams it's one of the lightest hats in my collection. I'm in doubt as to whether or not the sweat is original to the hat. Apart from the numbers, the label under the liner is hard to decipher.
After a bit of a clean up, it will look good as new. IMG_20210327_141535.jpg IMG_20210327_141550.jpg IMG_20210327_180911.jpg IMG_20210327_181209.jpg

Speaking of Joe @Blare, I have him to thank for this, the third new hat of the day. I knew it was on its way, but didn't know it would arrive today. A Wormser Bowler. He put me on to it after Rick's @quikrick post of him turning one of his Wormsers into a Derby
Wonderful shape to this one, which my photos don't capture. Great feel to the felt. The liner sits loose. The leather sweat is so soft and so comfortable to wear.
Thanks for the tip, Joe. My first ever eBay buy. IMG_20210327_181346.jpg IMG_20210327_181452.jpg IMG_20210327_142303.jpg IMG_20210327_142315.jpg IMG_20210327_175810.jpg

Thanks Bob. I'm so glad for the Wormser, too. I didn't even really win it, as in bid for it. I just pressed the "Buy it now" button. I have no idea how it went past the noses of hat collectors in the U.S.
I've always wanted a Wormser. Didn't expect it to be a Bowler. Win-win :)

Great trio of new hats Steve! That Wormser is something else though. Congrats on the first eBay win!

Excellent Wormser bowler, Steve. Not many of those around!

Second find, this Mayser Velour. A very nice feel to the felt on this one. It has a purplish hue to it which underscores the ribbon and liner.
The wording on the paper label is "x flims wallis", whatever that may mean.
It has a Joe @Blare hat look about it :) View attachment 321966 View attachment 321967 View attachment 321968 View attachment 321969 View attachment 321970
Hehe. Yeah.. for whatever reason hats of this style find their way to me... even if I didn’t intend to buy them specifically. I don’t think I’ve got a black one though! Nice addition

Wonderful!! I am surprised it arrived over there so quickly. I’m so happy that one worked out. And your first ebay purchase too! Congratulations Steve. Looking forward to the head shots.
