Here is some inspiration Steve. My take on the Carlsbad crease on my big Stetson Beaver 100. Mine is not as deep or raked as most of the Gus creases I see. (Sorry, not the best pictures.)

I'm always pleased when a box of hats arrives from Oslo. However, I was particularly happy with this batch. I'll show them off over the next few days.

First up, my first Campdraft in Blue Grass Green. I really like the shape and flow of the curves on this one.

Can't get into these Akubra's myself to be honest, but others seem to rock them. Quite the tall crown of that one or is that the camera angle, Steve?

Le Chevron ‘Genuine Velour’

This was the other travel mate of my blue Strat. I seem to be accumulating a number of these fuzzies through no intention of my own other than most of them have arrived with other hats I have purchased. This one seems very close in color to the Loden one I got a few weeks back. The gold and blue/black woven hat band on this hat is fairly unique. Under the hood... the manufacturing tag appears this is likely a 1960s HCA creation... my guess would be Dobbs or Knox

I'm planning on giving it a Tom Mix type bash, but right now, I'm enjoying looking at it as is.

Thanks for the photos, Randy. Ja, that's what I'm going for, but with a much more pronounced rake due to the height of the crown.

Campdrafts are indeed quite high crown, Stefan. Not as high as the Woomera though

Some hats made it across the pond this week. Thanks to Brent who was both the caretaker, enabler and shipper for these. And he generously added a hat to the batch. Thanks again, Brent. We'll start off with that one.
Disney in dark brown with a wine ribbon. Felted edge brim at a smidge under 6cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Backbow hat. I didn't have a Disney yet and this is a later one of theirs. The quality is still there though. Weighs 125 grams.

Mike @Redfokker pointed this hat out to me I think two years ago. I skipped it then. Fast forward a year and a half or thereabouts and Brent (enabler extraordinaire) pointed it out again. That's karma isn't it? Put in a lowball bid which was accepted and hey presto!
Fabroc homburg in brown with a red to orange coloured ribbon and brim binding. Size 7 with the brim at a good 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. A brand I haven't heard of before and I can't seem to find anything on them, but the hat is well made. Wonder who the maker was.

Something completely different. Threw in a low bid for giggles on one of these and won it because no one else bid. Cool.

Jabob Reed's Sons bicorn hat (or fore and aft hat). Naval I believe, but I have to admit I know nothing about these. It has had some serious use and has some age to it, which gives it all the more character. Looks like these were made in the exact same way as a topper: a shell was wrapped in a cloth and shellaced and ironed, after which the silk peluche was put over it.

Jacob Reed's Sons were military suppliers it seems. Here is a pic of their shop.

Last one for now.
Stetson *******. This one has some discoloration, which is why the bidding price stayed low. It can be seen in the pic as the yellowish banding around the ribbon. Likely another hat was sitting on top of this one for a long time. Other than that it's in great shape. Size 7 with the brim (with one row of stitching) at 6,5cm and the crown 10,5cm at the center dent. Unlined. No labels or tags underneath the sweatband. Weighs 85 grams.

Panama - Light natural color
1 7/8 black to blue/black grosgrain puggaree style ribbon
1 7/8 brim

This Panama came with two other hats that were too big for me... but this one will do just fine. Maybe a little padding at the back to snug it up. Super light weight and comfortable. In the box was also a nice multi hued pug I like as well.

Thanks Dave. I have to admit, seeing your Campdrafts among others really got me looking at them. Akubra sure make a top notch hat.

I have to admit, all the talk about Akubras has me looking at them. I tend to “baby” some of my hats, and it would be good to have a good hat that I could wear in any weather.
