Found this one today in Copenhagen, Hückel Prima. Talk about a petting hat. It's very similar to one Daniele posted at the end of January, though this one has a back bow. I'm guessing the same time frame, late 1920s-1930s.

By the shape of the crease inside and out, it looks like it had a crease clip at some point.

To feed the mysteries and the connections that took place between Giuseppe Borsalino and the cousin G.B. Borsalino Fu Lazzaro here is a hat that certainly is not from the 1930s, but which uses a paper label from those years.

Let's say it is a Borsalino halfway between the "Antica Casa" and the rebels.

Its main peculiarity is the felt that is finished in heather with white tufts and some other color, indistinguishable to the eye, on a dark anthracite gray base.

The felt is soft, but not too soft and the ribbon is dark gray.
Borsalino Qualità Superiore with G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro trade mark "copied" from an ancient original.

The color of the felt is "Ossola" and no other indication, other than size 6 or 59 centimeters, is shown on the paper label.

The measurements are as follows: the over double stitched brims are 5.5 cm. the ribbon is 4cm. and the open crown is 13.5cm.

Sold in Turin in Italy is another of the strange Borsalino combinations between ancient and relatively new, the hat seems to be from the 60s, which feed the confused mystery of the Borsalino split that began in the early twentieth century and ended thirty-five years later.

Waited a long time for it - then finally arrived and still not posted for a long time:
The black Henry Heath Homburg, which apparently wants to be or should be a tuxedo hat.
Or maybe a Melone/Derby/Bowler, because that is the stiffest felt on a soft felt hat
I have ever seen! Even with steam, small bends were hard to tame!
And at the same time, it's one of the smoothest and most supple felts I've had in my hands.
Truly a high quality, premium hat as you would expect from this manufacturer.
Must be before 1952: "By Special Appointment To His Majesty The King" - think of the 40s
crown with 11 cm at the centre dent; 5,5 cm brim at the front & back; 5 cm crown ribbon
size 7 1/4 (59cm) marked on the label - fits perfectly!

What makes it even more remarkable and, apart from the felt,
makes it stand out from the big bunch of black homburgs:
It has no sweat leather inside, but a reeded silk ribbon (5 cm)
sewn in and stitched to the silk lining. What's more, this rep band
doesn't feature Henry Heath's logo once again, but a stunning
gold imprint of "Tress - Quality Hats - London" (Tress & Co).
Actually, these were hat manufacturers themselves and thus
a competitor of Heath, or were the latter once bought out by Tress?
Otherwise it would be possible that Tress ordered this hat from Heath
and then sold it themselves OR the grosgrain ribbon is an exchange?!
In any case, this ribbon is exceptional and clearly gives this Homburg
the touch of a tuxedo hat, which I have mentioned above.

Thin underbinding on the brim (like an Arminto) and a double three-ply ribbon with a thin leather band. 6-1/2" open crown (5" as creased) and 3-3/4" brim. Purchased at Denver Dry Goods. Of course it's too small at a size 7-1/4, but I knew that going in.

Glorious old hat in great dimensions...everything except the interior circumference of the sweatband.

Curious as to when sewing the ends of the sweatbands together first started. Anyone have an idea?

Here is an excellent Mossant Bayard for homburg lovers.
Very well preserved, seems new and unwore, it is a magnificent example of post-war French headwear.

Size 59cm, which is 6 for French measurement.
It is of medium weight, 125 grams and is unlined.

The color of the felt is "Gris africain" which means African gray.

The measures of the hat are as follows: the curled brims are 6 cm. the ribbon is 4 cm. and the open crown is 13.5 cm.

The ribbon is in contrast with the felt color and with the one that adorns the brims.

I like the way the French hats producers use the colors felt name and above all the grays palette that is unique

Very well preserved, seems new and unwore, it is a magnificent example of post-war French headwear.

Bronnold "Edel - Echt Velour, Sekunda" possibly mid 1950s. The Velour easily dry creases and is of medium weight. The bow is slightly offset so that adds a bit of uniqueness. Also a wide Brim with a lower Crown profile.

Vimenet hat in grey. Size 56 with the stitsched brim at 5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Model 65 grammes, but it weighs slightly more than that at 73 grams (they don't account for the sweatband I suppose). May have had a crown patch or crown patch print like the others, but no sign of it to be honest.

Mossant Castor (beaver) made for Gérard Sools in the colour Cubba. There was a typo on the lable, so it could well be the colour was intended to be "cuba". Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 7cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Weighs 122 grams. Hard to say when this one was made, but I'm going with forties at the latest, because post-war Mossant was very much in decline and ceased to produce felt hats in 1953 (according to one source) and concentrated on making sportwear and caps. They closed down in 1978 (sources differ on the year though).
The French seller was a pain to work with and wouldn't budge on the price, but I'm glad I stuck with it, because the hat is marvelous and in NOS condition.

Founded in 1833, the Mossant company experienced considerable growth to achieve international fame even in the interwar period with the manufacture of the Mossant felt hat. This company, jointly owned by Marie Antoine Vallon, Ferdinand-André and Antoine-Marie Argot and Casimir Mossant, descendant of the founder, practically stopped operating during the First World War. Then it reached its peak in 1929 Mossant caps the world: 2000 hats per day come out of the Mossant factory requiring the work of 1200 workers; 55% of the turnover comes from exports of which 45% for the United States (cowboy hat in beaver hair and fedoras). The famous brand wins numerous prizes in world exhibitions. The industrial site occupies several hectares and employs several generations of inhabitants before collapsing after the Second World War.
The earlier hats have the names of Vallon and Argot next to the Mossant name on the logo. We have no information when this stopped.

P&C Habig Special Qualität fedora in black. Size 56 with the bound brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Not a lightweight hat by any standard at 138 grams, but some really nice felt with a smooth hand. Usually the Habig hats are "export qualität" instead of "special qualität", but I couldn't tell you what the difference was.
Sold by the Society Shop, a menswear seller still in existence today. The label tells us the hat is from 1959.

With the wider brim binding it is similar in style to the Whippet (there: raised the value by $100 just by mentioning that name).
