A very neat new arrival. This one came off a tip from @TheOldFashioned.

The Dobbs Cross Country a very thin light weight unlined hat.

This one had a cool back story. It had belonged to a woman who in the 1930s rode in dressage competitions against the men and won! She was a very proud tiny woman who loved to speak of the memories of her great adventures until her passing. This was how she kept the hat shaped and along with a chin strap she had made to use it for riding

I opened up the crown and reshaped it a bit into more of a fedora shape. There of course is a bit of memory from the pork pie shape she had it.. but it did shape fairly well. I’m sure some steam would help.

And now for the bad news... unfortunately while I was looking under the sweat for the manufacturing tag.... the back half of the sweat popped its stitching. While the sweat was very soft and malleable.. This potentially 80 year old sweat is Almost paper thin and tore at the stitches like a zipper. The back side of the sweat was powdery. So I guess this one will need a new sweat at some point.

Thanks Bob. I’m sure it was great for her. And gave it a unique look with that wide brim and a short porky telescope crown... but I don’t know I’d wear it much that way.

Great hat! I’ve been looking for a Cross County for a while now. That hat is well worth the repair.

Nice to hear that Jonathan @TheOldFashioned is still popping by. I miss his contributions.

Thanks to Joe @Blare for steering me toward this hat on ebay. I love the embroidered liners and not sure I’ve seen one like this. Kind of a cross between a Foxhound and Game bird, LOL. A little tight so still on the stretcher, but the Knox Super Fine is some nice felt. Pretty unique ribbon too.

This Cavanagh stingy arrived recently. I’m thinking of making it into a pork pie. The crown is approximately 5 1/2” tall and the brim is a minuscule 1 3/4” wide.

Adam De Luxe Quality. The open crown is approximately 5 1/2” and the bound brim is 2 1/2” wide. The ribbon is 1 1/8” wide and there is a wind trolley. The crown has wonderfully thin felt, and the brim is a bit thicker. I just wish it was a couple sizes bigger. Since it’s a 7 3/8 I’ll be looking to move this one on.

Even the box is in great condition. Feel free to send me a PM if you’re interested in the hat.

It's a Stetson No.1 Quality in a natural colored felt that holds creases and pops back out seemingly untouched, as the old felts did. I wonder if it is undyed natural. Brim is an even 3", raw and unflanged. I'm guessing early to mid 40s?

Now let's see if image upload is acceptable in one step. I've lamented the loss of Tapatalk for that reason, and it has been cumbersome for me to stay on my desktop computer very long.

This I believe 1950s Adam Executive arrived about a week ago a bit worse the wear from It’s travels. Most notably the front of the brim appeared to be folded and creased. The felt a bit weakened in that area.

After a serious brushing I got a big pot of water boiling and set to work. After a combination of a good amount of steam and more brushing. It really came back to life. Smoothed out some sloppy areas of the brim and crown. And then focused my attention on the tweaked front of the brim. More stream and more brushing and some of its structure recovered. Not one hundred percent. But very happy with the results.
