Just received the other day, the Etsy site description was a 1960’s hat which I knew wasn’t correct. In my somewhat obsessive beginner opinion, I assume late 30’s- early 40’s (please correct me if I’m wrong). Pretty cool hat, but needs some sweatband sewing. Unbelievable how light it is at 2 3/4 oz, oh and with a 2 1/2" brim. Anyways nice to meet you all and hopefully I am posting this correctly

Looks like a nice old Dobbs. Those light weight unlined hats are great for Summer time. Enjoy and welcome aboard.

2 inch grosgrain ribbon
1 3/4 brim with accented bound edge

And a Wind trolley... which I managed to break while brushing the hat

This was the last of the three hats that arrived stuffed in a coffee carton. I finally got around to cleaning this one up today. It’s a cool little hat. I’m gonna guess late 60’s early 70s. The liner is glued in... original selling price looked like $12.95. This is the first of the ‘Kasmir Finish’ Champs I’ve held. The felt actually felt a bit stiff... thought after a thorough brushing it did have a slight velvety texture. It is a very snug 6 7/8

I'm wearing that beautiful Cort bowler from the J.L. Hudson Co. which was out of Detroit.
It came in a Stetson box so that's a pretty good sign it's a Stetson.
The paper tag fell out when I flipped the liner inside out, the other half of it is stuck and crumbling to the leather.

I doubt it's a Stetson. Didn't they become unionized much later?

I have a bowler from the Broadway cast of My Fair Lady which I purchased from the owner for the princely sum of $20!
I even got a last acting job out of it: Pip, pip, jolly-o!
He was the second owner, he needed a bowler for the job so he picked up a used one somewhere in NYC.
I forget his name but he was a nice old guy and was just thrilled to have someone interested in his hat and the story behind it.

At any rate, it is identical to this one from the J.L. Hudson department store one aside from the stamping in the sweat band and the graphics in the liner.
I'll post pics tomorrow when I can get them out in the sunlight.

My newest arrival Montgomery Ward Dunderry. This hat is stunning with its dark blue felt.. tremendous proportions. The seller had indicated a 2.5 inch brim... but I am very happy with the 2 1/4 it actually is.. I think it works perfectly on this hat. Hard to reproduce the color of this hat as it changes drastically depending on the light. I think I came close here.. There is nothing not to love about this hat.. from its color.. it’s bow.. it’s shape and the feel of the felt. Maybe a little staining on the liner and sweat. I am very impressed with and excited about this hat.

A 1941 Montgomery Ward catalog shows some of their Dunderry hats.

They even had a model called the Brent @deadlyhandsome which based on the sellers measurements I had thought this one may have been similar. However with the 2 1/4 brim I think it is closer to the Brandon model. Don’t know if the age matches up at all.. but still thought this was very cool.
