[Hat and Rehat]

This arrived yesterday. Do to some confusion in communication, this hat was made to the specifications of my last hat rather than the specs I wanted.

Now I need to decide wether to send it back or to keep it. Either way I’m going forward with my original hat.

VS beaver fur felt in blue smoke.

The photos of the hat in indirect light are the most accurate for color.

“Elephant binding?” I’m not sure what you mean here.

Mind boggling again Max!
I couldn’t keep track of your hats with an Expert Database System.
I don’t know how you do it!

Tell the truth, B, neither can I. There are twice as much as I thought there would be.

Doc, I’m not to far away in AZ if you need help herding the stray stragglers especially any of those ornery 7 3/8 strays.

They're pretty safe in Juan Carlos' right now, under tight security. [emoji4]

One source I found for true vintage grosgrain online, with the largest selection I had seen, and ended my searching, seemed very precise with the name designations of each color. This led me to believe they were being true to the vintage names given to each of the many hues. One color was a light grey which they called elephant, noting in parenthesis that it had a bit of pink in it.
I probably wouldnt have noted that, but I had already purchased vintage ribbon elsewhere in a package deal of five colors in five 10 yard rolls (which turned out to be the saw edged Petersham), and a light grey with a subtle lavender tint, which comes out more or less depending on the adjacent color, numbered among my rolls in +- 5/8". I'm not dead certain, but am pretty well convinced that the grey I have is the color called elephant by the other supplier.
I've shared pictures of my ex Forest Service silverbelly Western, which now wears a skinny (ish 5/8") ribbon. That's the color I mean, which looks the same as your ribbon against the light smoke.
I was asking you partly to confirm my conclusion about my own ribbon, which I purchased under a generic description, light grey. If VS identified the color as elephant it would go a long way toward affirming me.

This Stetson-made 1930's heathered emerald underwelt has been around the lounge a few times before arriving at my door. Here it is again:

Stetson The Spectator. Very soft felt.

Trying out a reserved subdued stingy brim of my own:

This is a hat that just makes me smile. I haven’t even brushed it yet; I just couldn’t wait to try it on. The fit is quite nice and I’m considering another.

Well, erm, sometimes it's a good thing to be colourblind. The style does look good on you though, Brent.

[steur]

Very nice Stefan! That color is so understated, looks to be very versatile. I'll have to go back a few months in this thread to catch back up with you.

That crown is so impressive. Looks like a nice quality everyday hat. Very cool.

Thanks, Mike. There is some catching up to do, but you can have some fun finding the good ones.

Borsalino MGL Mink, 6X.
Very soft longhair. I wonder if it really has mink, or if it's just a name. Color Palladio, Asfalto ribbon.

Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk

Nice catch, Max. And with the Mink designation too. The label points towards an early sixties hat.

[steur]

Hahaha. Been there.

Longhair Borsalino Alessandria from Sweden. Got a craving for Ikea's Swedish Meatballs.

From the seller's pictures, I thought it was blue. I like it in gray, but would have preferred blue.

I wonder what the inscription in blue ink says. Is it Swedish, or Italian? Italian, I think, would be Graffito, wouldn't it? IDK

Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk

Very nice, Max. Another winner. I like it in grey and blue coloured hats are very rare. I think it says M. Grafite, so Misto Grafite (which is fitting for a grey hat). We haven't seen a hat with that colour before. Early sixties for that one too.
