Post New Hats Here!

[deadlyhandsome]

Stratton Milan (NOS). Stiff enough to be called hard. I’ve had a felt Stratton for some time but this is my first Milan.

I think my next new hat will be a Stratton.

[M Hatman]

G. B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro probably sold in France

The lining is gone

therefore, not being there the stamp of the shop on the sweatband, I presume it comes from France because I bought it there

The felt is very soft, almost like velvet and I think there is a modest component of wool

What is very interesting is the shape, with the flat brim raised all over the perimeter and a huge pleated ribbon

For its shape and finish, see the printed logo of the two dogs with the hat in their mouth, it seems to be a product of the 1920s

The paper label is celled and the printed name is Paris, the rest are numbers written in pen or printed. The size seems to be 4 5/2 even if it does not exist in the French size. The internal measurements are 19x15,8 cm. so a 56 cm.

For completeness of information here are the hat measures: the brim measure 6.5 centimeters total and the open crown is 13 cm. the ribbon is 5 cm.
Itarrived with a hat box, poor conditions, made in cardboard and metal

Your post made me think of this Youngs hat postcard I recently posted here: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/thr...r-stuff-before-1920.93144/page-5#post-2534244 , it is postmarked 1910!

This one made it over from Greece (of all places). Not my style, not my colour and it appears not my size. Still had to have it.
Borsalino Martora in the colour Gaggia (google translate comes up empty handed on that one). Size 56 (but seems to have shrunk a size), with the raw edge brim at 4,5cm and the crown at 9,5 cm at the center dent. It has the full appearance of a "little hat" (which I don't like). I wanted it because of the "martora" felt (pine marten). Seems not many of those are around (Daniele has one) and there is one in Timothiescloset's Ebay shop. Lovely hand to the felt and very lightweight. Not "as light as light" as the sweatband would have you believe, but with 76 grams certainly not a heavy puncher. The colour is not that bad actually (Max!); a very dark green.

Part II
Here are the remaining shots, some of the Etsy page and a few of the one still on Ebay. These two and the one Daniele has all come from Peluso of Napoli. Maybe some sort of speciality for them, like a lot of these coffin box Borsalinos seem to have come from the shop of Radiconcini (a lot, not all).
Gaggia is a new colour to me; never seen it before.

Well.. I‘m in love, but that love is unrequited. I was expecting a 7 1/4 and got a 7 1/2. My brains are not nearly big enough to fill this beauty out. Normally old hats are too small for me, too big is a neat change of pace.

I wonder who copied who????? Almost identical images.....wow...maybe some artist was selling to all the hat companies...I can see his ad now...same image with the hat being a blank outline.....something like "YOUR hat here"!!!!

Didn't know what to expect with this one, but it turned out to be a Cervo. Fedora in black, size 57 with the overwelt brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Fairly stiff felt with at probably part woolcontent. Styling is very nice though. Too large for me unfortunately.

Stefan: You have posted several very nice hats, too many to single out. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Dennis. My pleasure; it's what the lounge is all about.

It's not every day you buy a hat like this. It's not every day you need a hat like this. In fact, I don't think I ever will, but reason not the need. I just had to have it, especially when it came in its original box with leather handle [emoji4].

Thanks to Stefan for letting me take it off his hands.

You never know when that invitation is going to come, Steve. Best be ready for it!

Don't hold your breath, Brent! I think I only saw one once and that was snapped up in seconds (and for a hefty price too). Plenty of toppers around, but large size toppers: unicorn territory!

Exactly, Stefan. We hat collectors are like Boy Scouts: we're always prepared [emoji6]
