Happy hunting,

Nice find, Michael. Luckily, you were wearing the right outfit for it. Kismet or what? [emoji4]

Thanks Steve. Actually, I found that coat today, too. A good pairing.

Just picked this boater up from my hatter's. Fit is now perfect.
I can't see what brand it is. The listing said it was made in Japan.

Dr. Max: I like the way the crown is canted. I have not seen one like that, but I'm no expert.

[Rmccamey]

Number 9 in my nine-hat-haul last week. This one comes from Fort Davis, TX; a custom Limpia Creek pecan with chocolate ribbon. This hat has a 5 inch finished crown, pinched front teardrop, and 2 5/8 inch brim. Being a western weight, the hat is sturdy but has a good hand. I could not get a gentle fedora up-curve on the back brim to work as I had planned so I pulled the sides up to give it a decidedly western look. This hat is similar to my Stetson *** Club, although with a much better fit and finish as you might expect.

[NewJack]

Rare (to me). Wormser Texan Ten Star Western! Silverbelly! 3 1/8 brim. 5 5/8 crown. Like new shape. Felt shapes like clay. Yee hah!

Thanks CS. I'm kind of fond of this style of porkpie. I like that hairy felt. i think I have two or three of them now.

Limpia Creek? Limpia means "clean".

[mayserwegener]

Mayser "Superbe" possibly mid 1950s. The felt is is very soft and the brim is less stiff so not like a typical Mayser Homburg.

[DaveProc]

Recent $10 purchase! Bee Custom "The Strato" mid 1950s? Sweatband is on its way out, conditioned it and it's much better, but its days are numbered.

[DaveProc]

This just in!! Akubra RM Williams Campdraft Silverbelly. Felt seems sturdier than my Sea Foam Green Imperial Campdraft

[Rmccamey]

interesting, Max. I'll have to ask about that the next time I get to Fort Davis.

Steve: I love that color. What do they call it? Some type of rust? Although vintage, the hat looks new.

Dennis, Thank you! There is only a color number so not sure what Mayser called it. I would say a rust brown.

Hi Max, do have photos of the hat prior to it being modified to fit? Was it a boater originally? It seems to have a 1950s porkpie vibe to it now.
