Gorgeous French-made Collins & Fairbanks black dress hat that actually fits me!!! Finally I can have that 1930's film noir look AND stand out at funerals. You can see in the first pic that it tended toward a very strange bash with three dents on each side. It likes it that way and it looks fine, so it shall stay.

Last one of the batch. S stands for Stetson. Royal Stetson in Carbon grey. Bound brim at 5,5cm and crown 10cm at the pinch. Felt is well-behaved but the brim needed a strict hand before it did what I wanted. The original Stetson liner it came with was nothing to write home about, so I replaced it with this custom one. Bit of a beater hat this one, but it came cheap as a companion to the Champ I posted earlier from the same seller.

Nice hat and a very cool replacement liner. I found some nice printed fabric patches with "Pin Ups" on eBay; these would probably make good hat liners as well :)

A summer purchase. The homburg came from the great field of Simon Zlateff - Sofia.
It arrived in United Kingdom as many others and from there back to Italy after a long trip over time

Lobbia Borsalino Qualità Superiore. Size is 6 1/2, so a 60 in EU or a 7 1/2 in US
rsh4dy.jpg

Color is "Bismuto" cinta (ribbon) Nero "Erodisti" Felt is medium soft, malleable with a contrasting ribbon

It has some defects in the lining and the wind cord lost the button

The felt is great and the ribbons clear

It is a very classic Lobbia or homburg, different from the previous in "Palladio" I showed some days ago

This "Lobbia" Borsalino or homburg or Diplomatique is the type with "normal" brim, so more curled then the "Palladio"

The proportions are: brim at 6 cm. ribbon is 4 cm. and the crown is 11 cm.

I prefer more the Palladio shape and its type of brim, more flat.
More to come

Ha ha, you had to have lived the time! My wife bought me a Bailey New West, in 1980. It was Bailey's version of a Stagecoach, complete with macrame band. The first time I wore it was to the Roy Rogers Museum. I was admiring some of Roy's firearms, when I felt an arm around me, yep it was Roy! Great memories. Those gaudy westerns saw some good times. Huge country bars, filled with them! Thankfully we have all those survivors to turn into something we like now.
There's my answer to buying these attrocius hats[emoji16].
Stetson 4X destined for some sort of conversion. You folks buying these hats in the ‘70s have a lot to answer for.

I’ve bought a few that were listed as “worn once” or something similar. I think it took some confidence to be seen in these hats, and lots of people liked the concept but decided they couldn’t pull it off. I came of age in the ‘80s and I have my own sins to answer for. I still think parachute pants will make a comeback. ;)
