Nora-Hüte, measures about 57.5 cm, probably early 1950s late 1940s. The condition of this hat is near NOS condition. The darker gun metal gray Velour is really fantastic same with the hat form. The hat appears to be made by the same company that made my Stefan Esders "Velour" which also has no company mark and no paper label. Nora-Hüte appears to be the Vienna hat shop that it was made for but I couldn't find anything about them.

Seldom worn modern Premier Stratoliner from '14. This is one thick kitty, perfect for the frozen north, but not at all stiff. So nice to have an open crown and 6" of height. I'm still fighting the pressed crease on my several modern Royals, plus the Royals are an inch shorter.

Georg Fischer Wien, 59cm probably early 1950s. The felt on this Homburg is very soft in hand and a fine example of a very high quality felt that is of a heavier weight. The over all construction (including components) and condition of the hat are fantastic. This is my first Georg Fischer Wien find so very happy about finding such a great specimen.

Interesting maker on this one Steve. Perfect form, love the style of brim. Another corker!

Vacuuming revealed more than I wanted to see, but a naphtha bath and brushing has perked it up enough that it's not as jealous of Joao's big brown hat as it once was.

Will probably cover up the glue remnants with a wider ribbon.

Quite the transformation Bob. Could you tell it was this shade of brown in it's un-bathed condition? Should turn into something wearable and showy.

Why can't I leave orphaned hats at thrift stores? This one should clean up OK and I have several hat band choices to replace this one.

Purchased this fur felt Selentino on Wednesday and it was delivered this evening. Nice hand, great attention to detail! It's a wider brim than most of my other hats (2"), so it's my foray into wider brimmed hats. Although used, it was apparently never worn, as the tag is still intact and there is no sign of wear on the lining or hatband. Feather, wind trolley, hat pin, all included. I had to put some reducers in the sides because I'm a long oval and this is not.

It's starting to look presentable Bob. I had a Snowy River with a feather band glued on. I scraped the almost all the glue off and then sanded the rest away till it was clean and the same shade as the rest of the hat. I was proud of myself until I realized I had sanded through some of the sweatband stitching and had to restitch it. Next time I'll follow your lead and use a wider band.

Nice one Fred. I have never seen one of these up close, seem to be well made, nice details. If you have not got one yet, a hat brush will be your friend to a black hat. Every time you look at it, there is something to brush off. Usually it is best to have one brush for dark/black hats and a separate one for light color felt. There are plenty of good cheap ones on Amazon.
