Thanks ya all for the welcome. This is my first custom hat and what I have noticed is the fit. It fits tight which is needed here in Kansas but still comfortable and I forget I am wearing it.

I REALLY like that hat but I'm in lust with that ribbon bow! I've got to get back to my bench and see if I can come close to making one of those!! THANKS for sharing your great find!!!

It does look Elephant colored. Super liner graphics. Probably not as a wrinkly as elephant skin.

Knox Premire, the brim binding is a toned down salmon color that's hard to register. In fact the color changes in direct lighting. Other than that it's pretty spot on.

Posted this one in the Borsalino brotherhood earlier. Borsalino "Club" Gran Lusso in the colour Mirtillo (so a dark blue). Size 58, longhair finish, overwelt edge at 5cm and crown at about 10cm in front. Seems to never have been worn. The model looks very similar to a Borsalino Ardilla in brown I have. The brim is on the short side for my taste, but this is a superb hat. Love the colours (both of the hat and the liner). Pity it doesn't fit me. Late fifties to mid-sixties based on the label.

Borsalino Suprema quality fedora in Uranio colour (grey). Size 60 (6 1/2 French) with a raw edge brim at 5cm and crown 11 cm at the pinch. Unlined with a crown patch that is has an edge binding around it. It came from a well known shop in The Hague. G. Lörtzer was around since 1876 and had a shop interior that was unchanged since 1910. When the shop closed down in 1987 the building and the shops' interior was listed, so the new owner could not change it. Mid-seventies (if the label-theory holds true for this one: 1976).

Love the color and long hair finish on this swinging 60s stingy. I'm sure someone of the 7 1/4 brigade will be happy to give this one a home. Beautiful.

What a slice of early century history this place must be. Walking in there would be so moving for me. Great looking Borsalino.

I'm thinking this might go better under the eBay defeats thread. I received the hat several days ago and was immediately disappointed. The condition is what I was expecting, but the proportions are just off. It's a very small homburg, and I'm not talking about the 7 5/8 hat size. I was going to send it off for cleaning, re-blocking, and to have a liner installed. Now I'm thinking my search for a black Homburg will go on. I wasn't planning on wearing it often, but a black Homburg was what I wanted for wear with a dinner jacket.

It's out of shape and the ribbon is wrinkled but it isn't damaged; a salvageable hat, but not for me. Sadly, being a 7 5/8 (or bigger) means there isn't much to choose from.

This Resistol Stagecoach in "sunset" is destined for a conversion to a fedora. I'm brand new at his so it might be destined for a bin at the Salvation Army.

The folks at the Conversion Corral are all very helpful. Wish me luck.

Rehfus & Cie. Hat Factory "Olympia", French Point 5 / 57, probably late 1950s very early 1960s. They were located (Kehl am Rhein, Baden) close to France (Strasbourg / Strassburg) so probably why they used French Point sizing. Rehfus & Cie. closed in 1963.
