Idle hands are a devils playground. I agree, the curl reminds me of my 30s kettle finish. Love it for sure.
ME! But it needs to be big!
Looks great.
Grrrrr. So much for saving up for another hat. At $50 a tire, my new hat is going to have to wait a little longer. I am trying to decide if I want the Akubra Cattleman or the Leisure Time. Color will be in Graphite Grey as soon as I decide and get over this little setback. Too many expensive hobbies.

Circumstances favored me as today the welterweight, wider-brimmed Leon Drexler Stroller that I was waiting for came in the mail today.
The felt with a combined Angora finish and Welterweight crown, white gold silk 'galloon edge' and aqua silk ribbon. The brim is 2 1/2 inches wide, which is 1/4" wider than the standard for a Stroller.
The trim colors on this hat are bolder than my usual dour palette, but that is very much by design. The welterweight crown is very light, which when coupled with its open-weave linen liner should make it a fair warmer-weather hat. (The Angora finish slightly defeats that, I suppose, but I have my reasons)
(N.b. There are fine droplets of water on the hat in these pictures because I had been steaming it to work out an impression in the 'fur' of the angora finish by the packaging)

From the left side, displaying what Stephen Temkin (the hatter) describes as a, "stubby bow," and includes on his Skyliner model. (Full size here)

Now I need to mix up an Old Pal and settle in for the evening, because I have a 10:05 train to catch tomorrow.
I know what I'll be wearing.
Hückel (Weilheim) "Chamois", 57cm, probably mid to late 1950s. Fantastic felt color / finish and easily dry creases. Great form and as usual very fine dressing work. The feather came with it and matches nicely with the felt color.
That's the plan, Dlaniger. I can usually push a set of tires to the 2000-2500 mile range if I rotate them every 500 or so. The last pair had 2600 on them, but they were starting to get too square and thin. Now I can ride more to keep.me sane while saving up for a new hat.
Looks great. That will get your energy surge up and running. This was in the mail today. A Champ Featherweight with taupe felt, Kashmir Finish and in excellent condition. I'm pleased as punch!
The felt is noticeably finer than my other Champ... and lighter, too, so it's not just advertising jibber jabber when they say Featherweight and Kashmir Finish!
