If you have one in a 7 I'll trade with you.
Not at the moment, but I'll keep my eyes open.

It is, unfortunately, too big for my small head.

But at least I get to sample the felt in person.

Can anyone tell me how old this might be?

Very nice! I like the ribbon treatment, different.Ottmar Reich, measures 58cm, probably 1920s. Interesting bow design and very light weight. I really like this type of Stiff Straw Hat. I think it's a Ecuadorian or Colombian straw + weave but could be Asian. Old German Straw Hats are very difficult finds so very happy to find this one. Ottmar Reich was located in Lindenberg, Germany (was a major Straw Hat center) and the old factory building is now the Deutsche Hutmuseum (German Hat Museum).
Old Cork Spacer that was behind the sweatband. Never seen one this wide before.
Beautiful! How come you have all the luck?I came by this today.

I would probably have some success with vintage clothes. Living in a smallish town, the hat supply has been mostly baseball caps. I keep looking and hoping though. Not purely luck Red. I'm retired and I ride my bike for exercise. So I generally stop at 3 thrift stores and a consignment shop or two four or five days a week. It's an avocation prompted by some need for motivation to get my exercise. I might guess that if you did the same in your town you would have as good of or better 'luck" as I do. I admit I have better luck with hats than with genuine vintage clothes, which I would also like to find.

SWEET!!! I only have occasional luck in my size (7 1/2). I have picked up some like new, really nice "triliby's" and homburg/triliby crossovers. They look best when I wear a suit or sportcoat and my trademark bowtie. Only one hat from the 50's (a real nice Stetson "hunt club" in a wonderful gray fur mix). It is a great all around hat. I keep hoping for a nice whippet style in my size but alas....no luck. But I keep up the chase..Nice Michael. Can you use spacers? Anyway. I think that is late 50s to early 60s.
there is a really nice hat floating out there in your size right now ... might be just what you are looking forI keep hoping for a nice whippet style in my size but alas....no luck.

Gorgeous hat !!!!Wegener "Super", size 58cm, probably later 1950s. The felt is really fantastic, very soft + light weigh with a great finish.

Real nice hat !!! Congrats !!!My new Alley Kat has arrived!!!
Pecan with 2 3/4 Brim.
Tim did an excellent job. The brim can be formed anyway and the hat is sooooo soft. Wonderful work. He put so much time into this hat, and you can tell.
This is it with a feather....
Just a wonderful hat. I couldn't be more proud.
