Mayser "Spezial?", measures 58cm, probably early to mid 1950s. Unique thin ribbon / bow combination. Sold by Wilhelm Zeumer (80 years) of Karlsruhe. Couldn't find a paper label but could be a "Spezial".

A few nice estate sale finds this morning

A very nicely made Homburg hat by company I've never heard of.
Some interesting things on the interior of this one

I own three Scott and Co. bowlers. I dont know too much more than that they were a well known hat manufacturer in the U.K. They made some very nice hats, the bowlers are among the better constructed I own.

I was watching this one too, along with the Mallory that was in similar unbashed glory. I'm glad this one headed your way, beautiful sweat and liner on that one.

Stetson 100. It cleaned up pretty well with an application of Bickmore Hat Cleaner.

After the cleanup, brushing and some shaping with steam. The wind trolley was not attached, and is an elastic cord sewn to the button at each end. Not a very useful device in that state, so I was able to just slip it off. The brim is 3 1/2" wide and is extremely stiff. It makes my other 100 seem like a soft, floppy hat by comparison. The crown is malleable, though, and has the same nicely finished, luxurious felt as the other 100. The case in in good shape for its age, but has a slight odor of mildew and needs an airing-out, as does the inside of the hat. It's not bad, and should dissipate after a couple of months in the open air.

There are none of the normal tags attached to the felt under the sweatband indicating size or re-order number other than this re-order tag, and this mysterious (to me) stamp on the underside of the sweat.

g.durand ~ I'm glad that your newly acquired Stetson 100 cleaned up nicely for you.

I don't see many listed in size 7-1/2. The 3-1/2" brim is a plus.

I made the stop into the Stetson outlet in Garland today during my brief trip to see family. I made a promise to myself that if they had a Stetson Racine in my size, I'd grab it. Well, they had it. So I did it. But I'm having a sliver of buyers remorse knowing I have so many Silverbelly and light brown hats. I'm thinking about that sweet sage hat I passed up to get this. But I love this color combo and think it's a gorgeous hat. I'll enjoy wearing this regularly.

Then this wonderfully priced Knox in Granite was just calling my name. Robust crown and great feel to the felt.

I picked up this hat on eBay because it was a good deal for an Akubra Bobby, but was too snug when I got it. So I decided to let Texas hatters in Lockhart reblock and resize it for me. Here is the final product I picked up from David on Saturday – a new look, perfect fit, plus a new sweatband and liner. Texas Hatters never disappoints!
