My latest from Advintage. It's a 100% beaver felt from Fepsa.

This is by far the best modern felt I've ever handled. It has a velvety smooth hand and is incredibly dense, but being thinner than Winchester dress felts is actually lighter.

The colour is incredibly hard to photograph. Its a medium grey with earthy undertones. Thomas calls it smoke and that describes it well.

Though the temperature is in the 30's here (almost 90 degrees F) I can't force myself to change it for a straw. It's such a beautiful hat!

fantastic !!

Check the grain on the leather sweatband, no wear at all on this one. In fact I think this hat was just simply never worn.

Finally this hat arrived. There is not one single mark on the entire hat. No smudge, dust, lint....no! The inside of the hat, with the liner is spotless like it is, brilliantly spotless and clean just like this entire hat. The hat appears as if it was made just today. The leather sweat you can see even the grain of the leather, and everything snug, no popped stitching or any flaws at all. I note the inside says " lee water block fifth avenue". I understand what that means, however, this hat is such a mystery! The felt is the number one smoothest feel of any hats we've had. This hat is just awesome! And it has it's original box, too!

5 1/4 open crown, 2 5/8ths brim width!

very nice

I have a couple Lee hats that I like very much

thats a keeper :)

looks to be '60s or '70s maybe ?

The store it is from, was in the equatable building. According to the Chamber of Commerce, the inside shops went out of business early 1960's. I believe the equatable building itself was some sort of insurance or real estate company. The owner of the building was going to convert it to living spaces, but he got himself tossed in a big mess for wrongful disposal of asbestos......? LOL!

It is a sharp hat. I think maybe Dobbs may have made this one? The "fifth avenue" part, sort of brings me to think of Dobbs, as that is on the Lee label, fifth avenue..... (what was on avenue one through 4?....)LOL!

The size tag I think being that sort of square, rectangle shape, makes me think 1960's as they hat also has that plastic in the top of the liner. I think hats from the 1950's had more of that keyhole shape to the size tags.

We should start a "Thread of Niceness." You first...!

In all fairness to the entire website, for the most part....most all Fedora Loungers are super sweet and kind souls. A real tribute to being nice. So yes, a Thread of Niceness" sounds like a winner to me!

As my Husband says, "the Lounge is where to be".....!

wow.. interesting story

yeah the size tag screams 60s ... as does the Lee logo on the liner

I have a Lee from the 1940s that also says Fifth Avenue on it .... both on the sweat and the tag on the tip

Speaking of him how is he doing, miss seeing here on the Forum although it looks like your holding up the fort for the both of you , tell him I said hey ,you two are the best!

All the Best ,Your Friend Frank

He is starting to recover from his last Heart Attack. Bit slow on everything, but geez, he still has his sense of humor, (it has rubbed off on me over the years, too). He makes some comments while in the Hospital or Doctors office that destroys any serious attitude to such a level, everyone has to go out of the room to recover their composer! LOL! As he says, if you can't laugh any more, how do you expect them to collect your taxes? LOL!
