Borsalino Comos

In the past two weeks I've purchased two new Comos - a medium gray and taupe. These hats are extremely soft and very light-weight. The quality is better than I had anticipated. It's difficult to get both colors just right, and especially the taupe, which takes on different colors depending on the light.

Dobbs w/ Felted Welt Edge

Some ebay confusion. Listed as 7-1/4-7-3/8 with a circumference of 23"(unfortunately outside not in) making it about a size 7. Ultra-light thin felt. Amazing condition with Carter type ultra-thin sweatband. No factory stamps at all just sweatband with Cavanagh Patent and diagonal Dobbs. More photos with light tomorrow.

Royal Stetson Vita-Felt

5 1/2" crown, 2 3/4" brim, Block#102. I will take Lefty's advice and remove the odd petersham chinstrap - nicely matched and crafted, but not original. From a shop in East Aurora, 20 miles southeast of Buffalo. More photos here.

The chinstrap would look good for a woman riding a horse. For a man on the ground... not so much.

What a great looking hat, Alan! The strap is perfect for the wind... if you are riding a horse, or motorcycle with it on...

Hmm, it has a certain charm. Could be the tipping point to make fedoras come right back into fashion again

This just arrived.

Stetson Medalist Boater. I am unsure of the date, 30's, 40's? It fits like a charm, and I really like it! Feels weird to have the ability to be wearing a hat, yet feel the air cooling the top of my head. I will get used to it soon enough. Perfect for those 100+ degree days! This hat also looks to have been worn very rarely. The original price sticker says this one cost $5.00

I have no idea how to tell what the weave percentage is (or whatever you look for in straws)... all I know, is that I really like it!

Very nice Justin... the Medalist mark was first used in 1938 - I believe this one is from the 1940s.

Holey Blue

Lots of tape on the liner(probably substituted). Still being demothified. All the damage is on the outside of the crown--but lots of it. More tomorrow --look away if you are easily frightened.
