While with the family, sailing through a local fea market today that's in the area every summer holiday, I ran across this great boater. Picked it up for an incredible price, condition is superb and it fits like a glove which is even better!
A bit dusty and had to throw a few stitches in the sweat in some weak spots, and it's good to go!
Anyone have a good idea of the best way to clean one of these?

Been too busy to pop in lately, but the newest addition to my collection arrived yesterday, a Federation IV in moonstone, so I thought I’d share a pic. Wasn’t sure what I’d think about a dimensional, non-snap brim, but this hat is really OK.

I like this hat, the color and crown are really nice ¡¡¡¡

Finally, a Fur Felt!

I took a big step up in hat value in purchasing this Dobbs Dayton in Moss, but thanks to Hats Plus' great sale prices, I didn't pay more than I usually do for a nice hat.

I had in my mind that I needed a green hat that could resist water, and this one fits the bill perfectly! (Though I remove the feather when it's rainy out.)

I may be tired, but this hat could just keep going and going... it's a real treat for the head!

I picked up my first Borsalino last weekend for $40.00. It caught my eye as it has the same color ribbon as my Stetson Medalist Eagle. Hat is black, 5 1/2" open crown with a 2 1/2" brim with what appears to be a cav edge, ribbon is 2" in a nice olive.

Any thoughts on age? It has a feel of being older than the stetson, but I could be wrong.

Open crown since bashed to a center dent with a loose pinch which seems to suit this hat quite well

Ink appears to be from a fountain pen

Nice find! It appears to have a felted edge. It doesn't have Borsalino on the side of the paper label so it's some time after the early 1950s up to the early 70s. My guess is late 50s early 60s.

Rodkins, Very nice straw!

Here's a vintage Dobbs milan I picked up a while ago but only recently sent to Optimo for reblocking and all that. The straw is in great condition, but the leather sweatband needed to be replaced. The original one pretty much disintegrated when I touched it!

Just a quick note to say that my Fed 4 arrived yesterday -- the dark brown model. Already got an Indy bash in it and wanted to wear it today but . . .

IT'S OVER 100 DEGREES OUT THERE TODAY!

So, my trouble is twofold: I wear size 8; and there's hardly any cool weather here. I wore my Dobbs straw Harvey hat to work today.

As soon as I got my hands on the open crown Fed 4, I immediately thought to myself, "I should get another one in a different color and try a different style." I don't yet own a black or light brown ("Tawny Fawn") hat.

Anyone out there have any ideas for a size 8 head? Makers, styles, etc.? I've been looking and the pickin's are slim.

Bob, I'm just a hair off being an 8 myself, and I own hats from both Art Fawcett and Tony B. of Tumwater Hats. I don't think either would have a problem accommodating your melon. The pickins get pretty slim for factory made or vintage eBay finds at 7 7/8 and up. Good luck, Frank
