I just managed to snag another beautiful French 1930's NOS flatcap, this time made from gray salt & pepper tweed with some nice red flecks (I couldn't capture those details with the camera). No holes, no cracked or ripped sweatband. The whole cap is in perfectly mint condition and came for a decent price.

'Preciate it. The brim is 2 1/2". I was always more partial to stingier brims, 2" - 2 1/4", but I'm starting to like 2 1/2" as well. It gives the hat more body and flair; more felt to work with and shape.

I have a correction to my statement above. The brim is 2 3/8", not 2 1/2".

Good morning all, had a surprise in the mail last night. for at 6 months after I became a Cubmaster, I had been looking for a campaign hat, I finally found one a couple of weeks ago, a beautiful Stetson Nutria quality in near perfect condition

and then I realized that I needed something to store it in to keep the brim flat and to also keep it safe in the car and at camp when I wasn't wearing it for the flag ceremonies. I found online the hat trap which looked like exactly what I needed, the price was a bit steep, but I was going to bite the bullet. then crazy enough, last week for $25 + shipping I found a used one online

I opened it up and there's a Stratton campaign hat inside, in my size to boot!

so now it seems I have a campaign hat for work and one for play!

the wife is oh so pleased about that

Hi all. Only just picked up this size 7 beaver felt stingy brim from Etsy but can't identify the maker. Can anyone identify it from the liner logo?

The crest contains a motto "[...] qualitas et servitium" or something to that effect, and beneath the sweatband is a yellowed label with the hat size and "Chase" handwritten in pen next to it.

don't recognize the logo itself, but there are a few hatters from fifth avenue, new york, such as Knox and Dobbs.

That looks like the Stetson logo, but the center of the crest is different that the one in my hat from the 50's. Not sure about the model, though.

Update, I searched all through the Stetson Liner thread and couldn't find one that matched. Perhaps it's a Stetson division, such as Mallory, after the acquisition? I'm sure there's someone who would know better, but the beaver and eagle make me think Stetson has some influence... I could be wrong tho.

Are there any markings on the sweat?

So this huge box shows up with the resistol box inside, the hat was for sure untouched since 1967, never been on a head yet. The hat is spotless and the one picture close up shows the true beautiful color of this hat. Brim is just a hair shy of 3 inches, and as creased the crown is 5 1/8th inches, pushed out to open crown is 6 3/8th inches. This is the nicest hat I own, even nicer than my vintage Strat. The color and felt is just amazing and smoother than any other hat I have had to date. It is "stiff" on the brim and crown from being sitting in a box all these years, but the sweatband is soft and flexible. Crums Department store....it is still there in Wyoming, too!
