It seems to be straw time in some places, although not here in upstate NY quite yet. In contemplation however, when the sun broke through yesterday, I trotted out my latest Churchill (for Maus and Hoffman, Palm Beach). What a hoot that I just couldn't resist. Your comments, pithy or otherwise, are welcome.

I like it, especially the band. Then again I've been known to wear my Pith around London parks for no other reason than it protects my head!

Now that's something different. How about a frontal shot? I'd like to see how the face is framed by that sloping brim.

We'll have to come back for that Randall. The brim (front and back) was slightly bent down due to a scrimping in the shipping box measurment. Right now, it is resting on a flat surface with light pressure, trying to get it back in line. Stay tuned. (I may resort to some steam, but don't want to screw it up).

Thx Manfred, I'll take more pics, including interior and weave pattern once it's "straightened" out from being caged in shipment. No lining, just a leather sweat; it's very light.

Jason, that's a fine Hat. Looks very good. Great color to. Its a modern Stetson ?

Manfred, it is a modern Stetson. I was disappointed when I received it and it was creased with a center-dent, which with Modern Stetsons means lots of taper to the crown. Although the crown was pretty stiff, I managed to crease it into a teardrop, which straightened the sides significantly. I like it. :)

My new Early 40's Stratoliner Medalist Lightweight! The spot in the third picture (above and to the right of the strat pin) is just a fleck of dirt that I did not see when I took the picture. I flipped it off right after I viewed the picture. This hat is at least 70 years old and I can find nothing wrong with it. I had a couple original Strat pins waiting for the hat. Since this picture was taken (yesterday) I replaced the pin with my better one.

Manfred, Good looking Chapeaux. Feathers aren't my thing, but they good right at home on that hat.

Terry, Love the Stratoliner. What more is there to say.

Earlier in the week I was in Denver and found this later 7 1/4 LO Stetson Twenty Five Open Road at an antiques mall. Very good condition for an antique mall find.

Its a moderately lightweight felt despite the velour finish, which is quite spectacular. More to come...

Wow, Robert, that looks quite plush. Nice proportions, too.

Okay, I just have to ask: how many hats do you own?

(and why do I have the feeling I may not get an answer?) :D

Big curl but shortish brim.

Went to the Post Office after 2 boxes went undelivered still 2 days after tracking showed out for delivery. Now 6-8 times they put in tracking "notice left" at the end of the day and don't actually leave any notice or the package. Found 4 boxes at the P.O. The above hat arrived from France and the box had gotten wet so the contents mildewed--2 hats and the old box. Never had tracking so I don't know what happened....
