Looks like the Lee is a Lanno weave if it's a Cuenca, would it be a Montecristi by chance? It's one damn fine looking Panama for sure :)

I really don't know enough about panamas at this point to hazard a guess... the weave count is approximately 440/sq. inch on the sides of the crown. I was happy to find it in such nice condition... it was very reasonable.

The Lee is nice, but it's hard to top the Knox.

Here's the 25 I picked up today. I need to wipe down the sweat, but the felt is perfect. Whoever wore this sucker, really wore it. The ribbon is a bit sweat stained in the back, and the liner certainly shows it's age. With that in mind, I'm really surprised at the condition of the felt.

Again, it's got that warm feeling that I've only felt in the 25, 7xCB, and 100.

I did not get the case today.

Great find Lefty... That's an oldie 25. The 25 I have doesn't share lineage with the 7X or 100. Still waiting on that recent eBay 25 with box that I'm hoping will be a different animal. It's on a slow boat I guess...

Its a hummer...

Found a Hummingbird Felt derby in this Lamson Hubbard box today. Very nice derby. More pics in the bowler/derby thread.

Alan, that hat makes you look like a very friendly, relaxed guy. It looks much nicer than my only straw. I bought it last summer while in Arizona. I cannot wear a straw without it being custom fitted due to skull lopsidedness. Az-Tex fitted this for me.
It doesn't look bad from afar. Here I am at the Hoover Dam.

Up close you can see that the weave is not the best, but for $70 I got this:

I don't think I got my money's worth.

My suggestion: Buy the straw bodies from Panamabob, and have them blocked by Art so you can have the hat sized by your conformer, and have the ribbon customized.

I've always wanted to vacation out west. Alas, no time, no money. :(

Thanks guys. Dennis, it seems there's a steep learning curve to straw.

Have you talked with Gary about doing a custom montecristi or baku hat?

There's a 'vintage' shop in the city centre that I bob in every now and again just on the off chance I might find something. Generally they have lots of 70s and 80s polyester stuff, with the very occassional nice bit that I think makes the search worth it. I found this hat in amongst a huge pile of 60s or later stingies and porkpies for £15.

That's a nice one. I don't go for fuzzy hats much, but that one is pretty good.

As to the store's 70s wear--look out for a lime green leisure suit for me. I've been searching for one of those to wear to work. I've got to keep up my suave image.

Excellent idea. I had not thought about that. I'll give it a shot.
