Sometimes a stroke of luck comes unexpectedly.

Two Wilkes arrive from the same seller in Germany, each with a magnificent Melousine felt hat.

Both are leftovers from a warehouse or store; the outside size is still attached to the ribbon.


I'll show you a preview of them as soon as they arrive.

There's still some left on the fur felt side, which arrived in the last few days, and then we'll move on to hats suitable for the season.

Every time I buy a hat from eBay, I assume it has passed through the hands of a member here at one time or another, but I couldn’t find much about this Pigalle one. It seems like the company mostly manufactures

sombreros, and occasionally a black cowboy hat. Either way, I’m really digging this straw bowler. I don’t even know what kind of straw it is.

Happened across this Dobbs Milan this afternoon. Love the fine vintage weave and the flat top. A tad early for straw season, but I’ll wear it on the street today.

Just received this Dalestone Custom Made hat from the bay. It is every bit as stunning as it looked in the listing. It rivals my Stetson 3X mode edge, also has a felted edge, and the combination of beige felt with a slight rose or sunset undertone, and the nickel/silver gilled ribbon makes it glow. P. & C. Habig Wien, Hutmacher 1862, Seidenzylinder / Silk Top Hat, 58 cm, Crown 6 inches / 15 cm, Width 9 1/2 inches / 24 cm, Length 12 inches / 30,5 cm, possibly early to Mid 1920s. This is a really fantastic Seidenzylinder and in excellent condition. Superb overall (components & workmanship) quality. It has the Paper Label and other interesting markings be behind the Sweatband. There is a P. & C. Habig Wien "Patent Ventilator" at the Front of Sweatband but not mentioned. Also came with a restored + modified Blue Carton with an interesting interior design.

Barbisio Misto F a g g i o (beech). Ruvido (rough) finish. Size 56 with the overwelt brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Nobody and I do mean nobody does shark gills like Barbisio does. It's enough to make me buy a green hat; go figure!

Caxton stingy fedora in brown. Size 56 with the bound brim at 4,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Nice colour combination, but a bit too stingy for me to be honest. The quality is wonderful though.

Caxton made some great hats.

When this popped up I thought it unusual enough to go for it. Mossant Eden-Roc Baku fedora. Size 57 with the overwelt brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Very light of course, but I find these baku starws are not as well behaved as panama straws.

Another Mossant. Mossant fedora in a grey called "mine". Size 59 (even though label says 58) with the overwelt brim at 6cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the front.

Last one (for now).
Peschel velour fedora in grey-brown. Siz 57 with the raw edge brim at 5,5cm at the crown at 10cm at the center dent. This one has some age to it and could well be before WWII. The moths had a go at it and took a few nibbles but nothing too bad. The liner is in poor condition and doesn't add much to the hat, so I might take it out. The felt is wonderful.
