Not there yet. This summer when I visited Daniele in Verona he had found a magnificent Morreton Velour hat for me. I knew Morreton as a middle tier manufacturer, but since then I keep an eye out for their hats to see if something of equal quality comes along. Took a chance on this one and what do you know?

Morreton Chamois in black. Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 7cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. It was the shape that attracted me to buy it, but the felt is fabulous. It is a chamois finish, but with a very short nap, close to a regular felt. Just about 100 grams of goodness. Interesting is that the Morreton logo on the sweatband was overstamped with the name Borsiliano.

Getting there. It's a bit of a toss up between the final two. Let's go with this one.

Mossant de luxe fedora in a blue colour called orient. Size 57 with the raw edge brim at a generous 6cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Lightweight (82 grams), unlined and vented. On this one they got everything right, even the thin ribbon works really well here. Compare it with the Tirard I posted earlier and you see what I mean. The colour is probably the main attraction though, reminds me of a Borsalino Nembo I have.

Final one.

Solis fedora in a grey colour called "Giove" (Jupiter). Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. The felt is somewhat heavier than usual for a dress hat and it weighs in at 140 grams. The hand of the felt is outstanding however and as smooth as you can find them. It sports a really wide sweatband: at 6cm it is wider than its brim!
Reminds me a bit of the hats made by Laubin for Sools. This one is made for Fabrizi of Rome. Everything about it says pre-war.

We'll pick up where we left off yesterday. Onwards to the winners.
Borsalino Landasca 40 1/2 homburg in Dattero colour. Size 56 with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Dattero is such a great colour that I had to buy this one. It is very soft, which is unexpected for a homburg, and has a lovely hand to the felt.

What a roll you've been on Stefan, despite the few disappointments. The hats you posted today certainly make up for the mediocre ones of yesterday.

Some very interesting finds. Congrats.

Vinzenz Nohel "Osiris", 56 cm, possibly late 1940s early 1950s. Vinzenz Nohel Hair Hat and Stump Factory Amstetten, Austria was owned by J. Heinrich Ita, Vienna. I always wondered why Amstetten was listed as a location in J. Heinrich Ita Catalogs and on some their Hat Logos so this solved the mystery. This is a great short clipped Velour that easily dry creases. The Paper Label format and design is very similar to early J. Heinr. Ita Wien paper labels so this hat could be older. The sweatband doesn't have any markings so possible it was added later but I can't find any evidence (everything appears original).

My Christmas present to myself is a Stetson “Beaver 100” sold and gifted by our Texan professor, Randy McCamey @Rmccamey
Worn proudly to Church this morning. Randy says he had Art Fawcett to shape it and put in a pencil curl. Looks magnificent and has taken top billing on a center hat hook in my living room. Felt so dense and smooth you may doubt this beauty was ever sold for just one C-note. I paid a bit more than that, but Randy let her go for a lot less than he knew it is worth.
Great guy, that Irish Texan!
Merry Christmas to all here on the lounge!

This is a display I made of two unfortunate buck who had gotten into a fight over a female and in doing so, intertwined their horns which eventually led to their embarrassing and torturous demise.
Their half decayed bodies were found with their forevermore locked horns in a hay pasture not far from my house.
If you could look closer you would see where the deer frantically racked their racks against each other trying to break free.

There’s probably something us men could learn from this tragedy.

Thank you, Steve. My thoughts exactly and it makes going after these lottery hats fun.

Tremendous hat Randall! Looks perfect on you as well. Unfortunate for those bucks… but very interesting. Fortunately I do not think we will have any lounge members going out that way with their creases interlocked.

You well deserve that beauty of a Christmas present, Randell!

That is one grusome memento mori, but eerily wonderful, too.

Thanks, Joe, Stefan and Steve!
We think this 100 was of the last of its run.
Kinda like the two bucks here.

Two bucks for a display. One hundred bucks for a hat.
I’ll take the Stetson, thank you.

Thanks, 44!

Yeah, imagine what all the giggling doe were sayin bout the two males tied up like that.

And also, makes you wonder about the deer:
One likely died before the other and the “victor” probably drug his body around awhile before dying.
