Does it fit? Stunning hat!

I could not wear this hat as it is for "Youthful Smartness" and I am neither . However a great hat for you!!! Interesting bow work on it.

Thanks guys! Of couse, neither one fits. Guessing the Dobbs is a 7-1/4.

I'm happy that the two are nice as they are as there wasn't much to go on with the auction pic.

I asked them to ship them in the Dobbs box as I didn't want to pay shipping for the other boxes. They put the lid on the bottom as the stacked hats were sticking out the top (but well protected).

Boy ... I wish this Mallory Panama fit me. There is so much to like here. The straw color, the two-tone pug, the "texture" in the print on the lower section of the pug, the weave, the condition. Sigh ...

Quite nice. Looks like Mallory took great pride in their straws as well.

Another box had four hats in it. They were packed quite well inside a heavy old Dobbs hat box with lots of padding and a couple of small boxes cut and arranged to stop (or at least slow down) any crushing. Kudos to that auction house.

We'll start with this Lion Hats (a Langenberg brand). It does have some stains or mottling that I hope will clean up.

And, what was probably original to the Dobbs box, this lord's hat (my first!) with a Cavanagh Edge. Not willing to check behind the sweat for a tag until I condition it. According to the Hatted Professor this hat is likely from the mid-1930s based on the liner rondel and the "Improved Cavanagh Edge" debossment. Once I can get a look at the factory sticker I'll share it.

This just in: Biltmore Casa Blanca Panama hat.

This is another of Biltmore‘s upper-mid grade Panamas.

When it arrived it had a pronounced upturned brim, but I worked on it for a day and started out trying to get a nice almost-pencil roll sort of brim edge, though I stopped before getting quite all the way there. I had thought of flattening the base of the brim more, but kind of like it with a little upwards curve on the sides.

Not a new hat but hat related. Took a chance on a hat gauge. Fast delivery but a full size discrepancy or worse on measurements. The return process should be an adventure.

I have one too and mine reads smaller than the true size. On soft hats the difference is small, but on stiff hats the difference is considerably more. The longer the oval the less accurate it is too. I still find it useful and just know to compensate for the discrepancies.

That's pretty much the plan. I'm an ELO so the inaccuracies are from 1 to 1.25. My wife is 6 7/8 to 7 1/8 I'm 7 1/2+1/6th. I was offered a partial refund, amount as yet undetermined, which I'll probably take. Fortunately the underside of the device has room for chart. The arc looks to be a perfect size for a CD label template.

ELO…Electric Light Orchestra? Somehow that doesn’t seem to fit.
