Great hat, Snowman. The "D" variant (derby variant) is 4 times as transmissible as the original HAS. Now that you are infected, it helps to be around more derbies

Brent, The the original Sweatband was replaced with the Stetson Sweatband. You can see the stitches along the reed in the Sweatband photos. Is it 55 or 56 on the Paper Label? That would be the CM size. My guess is the hat is later 1950s.Thanks, Steve. Yes, the liner is stitched in. There aren’t any markings that I can find stating the it was made under license for Stetson: is that normal?

Ya know I was thinking the new mustache was giving a serious officer look. This hat nails it.
Royal De Luxe Stetson Stetsonian, but it’s a few sizes too small. What a hat! Wide Whippet-esque brim binding but the binding is much wider on the top of the brim and narrower on the bottom. 5 1/2” open crown and 2 3/4” brim…and sadly a size 7 1/8. The sweatband is nice and supple and the hat is pretty clean. The felt is fawn and more brown than the photos show. The felt is substantial and should make a good cool weather hat for someone. Off to eBay.

Stetson The Sovereign Twenty. Mode edge 5 5/8” open crown and 2 1/2” brim. Size is 7 1/4 and the hat is is great shape except for some thinning/weak spot at the point of the pinch.

Two superb hats!
Sounds like a plan! Thanks, Joe. Obviously too small for me, but they’ll play their part in paying for a custom or two when they sell on eBay.
Thanks Matthias and all the others that like this old elegant beautyFantastic hat, Daniele:
Everything is beautiful on that one.
A real summer gem!
I'm not surprised; it looks like it's made from carbon fiber. But seriously, that relatively open mesh looks like it'll be cooler to wear on the hotter/humid days while still providing a bit of shade. Nice! This new manufacturer Mayser almost defeated me...Yesterday I figured out that you have to heat it up (steam) and you have less than two seconds before it’s cooled and won’t let you shape it...
Great looking hatSpiffy Flechet Essor arrived while I was on vacation, similar to a Stetson Playboy. Posted more pictures in the French hatmakers forum. View attachment 357307 View attachment 357308 View attachment 357309 View attachment 357310
Interesting. Glad you two were able to come to an understandingThis new manufacturer Mayser almost defeated me. I’ve had it since early June but I just couldn’t make nice with it. I tried to re-block it and all I did was screw it up. Yesterday I figured out that you have to heat it up (steam) and you have less than two seconds before it’s cooled and won’t let you shape it. I had to heat it dozens of times to get it to where it was acceptable. 4 5/8” creased crown at the dip and 3 3/8” bound brim. The brim is solid and blocks all light. The crown is a fine mesh and very breathable.
