those are nice, I really like the first dobbs.
P. & C. Habig Wien "Grand Prix"
That Supernatural is sweet, Bob, I've been on the hunt for a Panama.
Good get, man.
Oh, my days, Bob! Four great hats. Congrats.
Who wouldn't want that one, Bob? Great catch.
Telescope crease, wide ribbon, back bow, pork pie look, oh my, you hit the jackpot with those four, Bob.
That is beautiful Bob. I see why it caught your attention
Nice additions Bob. Very cool the local store connections. Also... 50s straw Fifteen.... pretty impressive I think.

Bob, Thank you! Great finds from you! I can see why you really wanted the Ecuadorian Panama Hat Company Supernatural Genuine Italian DeLuxe Milan. It's fantastic.I keep coming back to look at this one. Amazing hat Steve!
Thanks guys! Looking forward to a fun Summer with this lot.
P. & C. Habig Wien "Grand Prix", 57 cm, 110 grams, late 1890s - 1900. The Felt is very thin and light weight with a great smooth finish. The black liner with gold embossing is striking. The textured sweatband is also very light weight with the "Patent Ventilator" holes. There was a newspaper (from September 4, 1903) spacer behind the rear of the sweatband. I am thinking this was able made for the Paris 1900 World Exposition or was made the year after P. & C. Habig Wien winning the "Grand Prix" at the Paris 1900 World Exposition. I took some photos wearing it so the curved form will be more apparent. This is one of my best Stiff Felt finds.
Patent Ventilator
Paper Label with Handwritten Entries, Stitched in Liner
Newspaper Spacer, Berliner Börsen-Zeitung, Friday, the 4th. September 1903. (The seller told me that the Melone belonged to a Banker in Greiz, Germany so that explains the use of the Berliner Börsen-Zeitung Financial Newspaper as a spacer.)
P. & C. Habig Wien - Berlin Catalog, possibly mid 1890s to early 1900s.
Similar Stiff Felt Forms, Also P. & C. Habig Wien Crest with "Patent Ventilator"
Natural Light (Very Similar Hat to No. 16 above)

Late to the party, Bob, but great gets. I dig the local connection.
Quite cool Steve8 "new" hats arrived this week. Among them, these two top hats. I didn't listen to Stefan's @steur advice, so now it's official: I'm knee deep in them
They're both interesting in their own way. The most interesting thing of all, though, is the box. That's what I was going after.
More to come in the Toppers Unite thread.
I'll post the other "newbies" View attachment 325838 over the coming days.
Randy, In this case the front and back Brim (no curl present) is ~ 2 1/4 inches and the mid side width of the Brim is ~ 2 1/2 inches if you include from the curl which is about where the Binding starts. The only way to know for sure is to flatten the brim out. I don't think I have any details on how Brims were cut for Stiff Felts but I can check. This Stiff Felt also has a front to back curve which you can see in the examples in the P. & C. Habig Wien Catalog I posted. There might be some other examples here but probably most curves are from over stretching. You can tell because there will Brim distortion at the front and rear.Steve, with the sides being lifted so much can you tell if the brim is actually wider than other comparable bowlers?
And finally a Resistol WAR back-bow. Listed as a ladies hat (and came with a scarf). There was also a couple of complete-with-insert hat boxes (Stetson and Dobbs). All of the hats coming from former local stores was a bonus!

Magnificent bowler, Steve. So glad that you won that one. Saw it going by and completely forgot to bid on it. A wonderful piece of history.P. & C. I don't listen to my advice either! And I'm guessing I'm more than waist deep in them. Hard to resist a good hat. Nice catches, Steve.8 "new" hats arrived this week. Among them, these two top hats. I didn't listen to Stefan's @steur advice, so now it's official: I'm knee deep in them

Quite niceA new one added to the fold. The Holborn hat. Lords hat in black, size 58 with the brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. As it came in a rather fetching Stetson hat box, I thought it was American made at first, but it's probably English. Holborn being the legal centre of London the style fits. Liner and textured sweatband suggest an early hat, likely late thirties. Could be forties as well though.

This is the Stetson box it came with (and is part of the reason I bought it).

Nice additionsA couple of hats from the outlet in Garland. That place has been very busy the last two times I was there. Mostly a cowboy hat crowd but I scored a couple of fedoras. A Stratoliner in natural and a Dobbs Rosebud in cognac (looks like milan wheat) in hemp straw. Cannot find anything on a hemp Rosebud online.
