Wow. That is really quite a hat!

Byer Rolnick Resistol Twenty soft bowler; mid to late 60's I'm thinking. And it is soft! I could easily dry crease this one into a Homburg with little effort. With a brim of 1 3/4, this one is about 1/4 inch smaller than my other stiff bowlers and it carries a slightly shorter crown as well but it looks well proportioned. I am pleased to finally add a mid-brown to my derby collection.

HJ, I can’t wait to see more of this one; perhaps more so than many of recent memory. Having recently had some offline conversations about different Peters Brothers Shady Oak hats, this one popping up is pretty cool, especially with the hood. I know they’re are a few around that have some of these hats in varying grades. Hope they will weigh in.

Thanks BB! Brad Peters has been quoted as saying they used the Swiss hoods up into the early 1960's. I hope to learn more about the differences between the PB Shady Oaks & the Shady Oaks Bankers Special, & the PB Shady Pines. I seem to recall someone here having a Shady Pines also (@carouselvic). We've hit a snag on uncovering new info on the Stetson Shady Oak Farms Amon Carter. We'll have to move this to an appropriate thread.

got a fresh batch of custom band blocks today, made from a conformateur tracing. Art Fawcett used to have that service; maybe Dave, his succesor, still does. They aren't just my size; they are actually made to the shape of my head.
After a week or so, the sweatband adapts to the wooden block. Also, after you wear the hat for a while, the sweatband tends to shrink a little bit, so the next time you put the hat on it will feel tight.
If you store the hat on a block, it won't.

Max, I'm jealous, just how big is the warehouse you live in?

This is part of an email I received from Brad Peters a few years ago.

“The brim looks a little bigger than a shady oaks this very possibly could be what was called a shady pine pretty much same just about a 1/4 bigger brim.”

Thanks Bill. I remember you have had a couple SOBS hats. Could you post the complete email in the thread I started for documentation purposes (unless it contains personal info, of course)?

Getes, Georg Teufel & Sohn, Tuttlingen, "Antilope", 58 cm possibly late 1950s early 1960s. This hat is machine formed but has nice dimensions + style. I have never encounter Georg Teufel (&) Sohn, Tuttlingen so I will have to see if I can find any information. They don't come up on any of my lists. There is another Getes in this find.
