I really love the Flying Cloud clipper ship liner on these. I am a big sailing ship fan, and the clippers of the mid 1800s are one of my favorites. Nice color of brown too. Some hats just need a feather.
I do love the Flying Cloud liner. I do muse though... there was a painting named Flying Cloud.. I assume depicting the ship of the same name. The artist name William Knox. Made me wonder if there was a connection to Charles Knox the hatter. Or a sorta tongue and cheek marketing by Knox.... which they liked to do. Or just a coincidence all together

Boy, do I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread, as well as posting... Good lock down activity I guess.

Lovely tone of tan/brown on this one Stefan. Have you been finding many hats of late? I've kind of gotten out of the loop.

Very nice! I'm drawn to the unusual one in the bottom right corner. Are we going to see a specific post on all of these?

All of these hats you posted over the past few days are off the hook Brent! I enjoyed each one of them. Is this clone refurbished by Art? The colors are sure great.

I really kind of like these current Strats that Stetson has put out. I have a Hemp that needs to have the dust shaken off and brought back in service. Nice, versatile color.

Another great one Brent!
Not as many as I would like, Mike, but still hats enough to go around. I've added quite a few to the collection and have let go quite a few as well. The unusual one you mention I traded with Garrett is a Barbisio. It was posted here:
https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/barbisio-brothers.37413/page-23#post-2619518
I'll put you back in the loop again if I find anything in your size.

I got home from work today to find this hat from Stefan @steur waiting for me. I could tell from the moment I removed it from the packaging that it was two or three classes above anything else in my hat cupboard. It’s also a very nice fit.
A Brummel’s homburg. Thank you Stefan.

It’s going to take a bit of practice to get the nice angle on photos of the Homburg that Stefan always manages. This looks like something from Mars Attacks!

Glad to see it arrived without much delay and that you're happy with it. Looks good on you, Gary. No going back now though I'm afraid.

Great hat! Stefan keeps many of us on the hook, so to speak. I have a couple in the mail myself! Wear it well.

It looks like things are slowly starting up again here and there. I am still waiting for the packages I want most of all, but several came in this week. Let's take a look at some hats as a welcome distraction to other things.
First one.
Baronet homburg in black nutria. Size 55 with the brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Like I need another black homburg that isn't even my size, but it was the nutria felt that attracted me to it anyway. First time I've seen a black nutria homburg. And it doesn't disappoint; great hand to the felt. Actually Italian made and judging by liner, size tag and label I would guess it was made by Cervo.

Let's do another one. Fellow lounger @Garrett was kind and generous enough to part with this one. Thanks again Garrett!
Its real colour was a bit hard to assess untill I unboxed it. It is truly spectacular.
Portis Supreme Quality in blue. Size 7, unlined with the bound brim at 7cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Lightweight hat it is as well with just 92 grams.

I mentioned above that the nutria felt of the Baronet was a point of interest to me. Same thing made me go for this one.
Borsalino Nutria Cocisan in Carla colour. Size 7 with the brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Very lightweight at only 83 grams and the hand of the felt is incredible (as I hoped). From the M. Hutter, Merano, find of hats.
Brim looks a bit off, but that's because my current hat stand is a bit too wide and distorts the hats somewhat.

Here's an interesting find. Listed as an Echter Borsalino size 52 and bought for 1 euro. The shipping costs were twenty times that! It arrived in a box just big enough for the postage stamp and out popped this one.
Not a Borsalino, but a Hückel Standard in a size 55. An honest mistake by the seller though, because the Borsalino liner is real enough. The cardboard behind the sweatband made the hat seem smaller than it is. The liner is a later addition of course, as the hat was originally unlined. I took out the liner and found that the Hückel crown patch was gone, but the patch from the dealer was still there. Can't really make heads or tails of it though. It looks like the same design is on the sweatband as well, but even more faded. It didn't need all that much persuasion to return to somewhat normal, but more TLC is needed.
Bound brim at 5cm and crown 11cm at the center dent (more or less).
The way it was listed:

Part II
The way the bow is done with the visible stitch at the top and no stitching at all at the bottom makes me think it is an earlier one. Late thirties maybe?
It needs more cleaning and steaming, but there's a neat hat in there somewhere (certainly for the price).

The liner I took out.
huckel-standard-stein_07-jpg.235319

huckel-standard-stein_08-jpg.235320

The retailer's imprint (too faded to decipher).
huckel-standard-stein_09-jpg.235321
huckel-standard-stein_10-jpg.235322

The Hückel Standard emblem on the sweatband is slightly more visible.

Below: as far as I can make out it could be something like:

One more then. @Garrett very generously added this hat to the hat exchange for me. It has been posted here before both by him and by Justin @splintercellsz who found it I believe. But here is it anyway. Thanks Garrett!
Emerson homburg (close enough for me anyway) in brown with an overwelt brim at 5,5cm and an imposing 11,5cm crown at the center dent. It was refurbished by Bob at Black Sheep Hatworks, which is an added bonus. Love the real vintage vibe of this hat and it really needs this crease.

Last one. Toppers in larger sizes are few and far between (in decent state and anywhere near reasonable price anyway). Here's an interesting one.
Ravenhorst top hat in a size 60. Brim at 5cm and crown 14cm. It came with its original box and with its original velvet cushion. It isn't perfect; there is some discolouring on top and there are some tiny holes in the fabric on the underside of the brim. Perfectly wearable topper though because the silk is in excellent shape.
