The second hat from Rick @humanshoes is, in actuality, a new hat that has been seriously updated.

Last summer I found a new Sunbody fedora (2 1/4 brim) at a bargain basement price. Taking a cue from some of my mentors here on the Lounge, I sent the hat to Rick who put in a new leather sweatband. He also replaced the generic cloth ribbon with a 1 1/4 pugg made from one of my old silk ties. I was hoping it would match and I am very happy with the results! It is a long time until summer but I am looking forward to putting this one to a lot of use when hot weather gets here. This is a much more wearable hat and one that I am very proud to own.

One a more personal note, the pugg is from the tie I wore at my daughters wedding twelve years ago (wow, time flies). I have not worn the tie much since then and I thought this would be a good way to repurpose the tie and make myself a reminder of that special day.

Very cool looking hat, but I have to admit, I enjoyed the background story a bit more[emoji275][emoji106]

Sorry, that's the writer in me, lol....

Another one showed up at my favorite vintage store today. Makes me wonder how many I've missed over the last week or so since they started showing up. Ha ha. Portis today.

4 1/2" crown at the front pinch as it came to me. 2 1/2" brim, 1/2" binding, 1" ribbon

Very happy with this find. Pretty much mint condition except for the ink smearing on the tip logo. Thin and dense felt. It's started raining here, so a few water spots now. Hopefully the Swans Down Finish will shrug them off.

Great find, Michael. Especially love the ribbon and bow. I'd be making daily bicycle trips to that store [emoji145]

Thanks Steve. Yes, I'm liking that ribbon treatment a lot. First hat I've found with one like this. Took the car today though, as it's right at freezing and pretty much pouring down rain. Ha ha.

Thanks Hector. I'll agree. The last couple of weeks have made up for the long drought this year. In spades. I'm very happy about that.

Thanks all,
Michael

Wow, wow, wow. Just received this Mallory Fifteen from Bob. Not wearing it today, but I wanted to share it real quick with my FL friends.

Sure it has battle scars, but to mess with this hat, other than a good steaming/brushing, would be a crime. The felt is amazing! Thank you Bob!

Very nice, Héctor. A fabulous hat like that can deal with some battlescars; only adds more character.

Weather hasn't been kind recently to take some pictures of the newly arrived hats. Today things looked better. First one.
Wotan homburg in black. Size 57 with the brim at 6cm and the crown 10,5cm at the center dent. This one has me stumped about its age. As Norse and Germanic mythology was embraced by the nazis, it was at the very least frowned upon in the post-war years. So I think a manufacturer wouldn't choose this as a brand name like Wotan (the Germanic equivalent of Odin) until at least the mid to late sixties. It looks earlier than that though (liner is still stitched in for example). Looking at the liner logo I think Wegener may be the manufacturer. A hat called Wotan: had to have it.
