Makes me wonder if Champ and Dunlop shared manufacturing at that time. I mean sure the space race was certainly taking over the consciousness of the 60’s the same way Buzz Lightyear took over cowboy Sheriff Woody’s place in Andy’s room in Toy Story. But those liners being that exact... I doubt a coincidence.

Picked up this Stetson 3X on Goodwill for $14. Wasn’t sure about it so thought I would use it as a beater, but it’s actually pretty nice, other that the hat band (Ugh !).

It came with the brim curled up Western Style and pretty stiff, but I got the steamer out and flattened it out on the sides and turned the front and back down. Was going to rework the bash, but the Wife says she likes it, and it looks like a ‘Clint Eastwood Hat’, LOL.

I kinda like it, so may keep it like this and find a new hat band.










And the awful hat band......

Dunlap Spaceweight Saturn 2 in space gray. Size 56 with the bound brim at 5,2cm and the crown 10,5 at the center dent. Very nice little sixties hat. The liner is what makes it for me.

Borsalino Gorasgu in brownin a size 56. Felted edge brim at 7,3cm and the crown 11cm at the center dent. The first three letters of the colour on the label seem very clear: "Vis..." and after that, who knows? There are five colours in the Borsalino line-up staring with a V: two greys vischio and viscarda, two browns: vinato and volterra and a green: verde. Could be an new and so far unseen colour (I'm thinking visone -mink -, which would fit). Anyone care to hazard a guess?
Anyway: a fabulous hat.

I like that liner. Definitely a cool looking hat. Don’t think the hat band is THAT bad. Though it does look like a nice belt for a really small individual. [emoji3]

I can’t believe Stetson would use a plastic hat band. Man, not like the old days.

I think I’ll stick with vintage....
