Not my usual but when I saw 7X CB I read the description and looked at the photos once. The BIN was a nice one. I don't think many others saw it before I pulled the trigger. After having plenty of time to study the pics I suspected it might be Canadian made with the foil size tag. I reached out to a couple of buds and they had suspicions as well but no confirmation. It was very dirty and musty with with some markings under and along the edge of the brim. Steaming and sponging helped but it needed a gas bath. That helped but some markings remain that I'll worry about later if I keep the hat.

As soon as I picked it up it was obviously a 7X CB. The finish is as fine as a great suede or buckskin. The density of the felt is what draws me to these hats, along with how easy it is to mold the crowns. They will 'pop' in and out as you please. This one is particularly soft and is finished to more of a dress weight than either of my other two. The brim is as flexible as Gumby and transitions from the down to up position with ease. The Mode edge is really thin and finished to a standard I've not experienced. I have a 20 mode edge and have owned a Guild Edge and Cavanagh and they were all nice but don't match up. Clear Beaver on the liner tip with maple leaves all around. Oil skin liner tip protector. Great 2" sweat and the liner is heavy with the seam to the right. The ribbon could be described as Champagne in color and it is unique. Look at the pics in direct sun. Hard to find a stitch anywhere on it or the bow. Nice and straight blocking. 2 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Another Bowler to the collection and another Manchester hat, too.

I believe this one to be inter-war years: closer to WWI than WWII in my opinion, so late teens or early to mid twenties.

I don't believe Hartley & Boedeker survived after WWII, so I'm very pleased with this find.

It's in need of a bit of a clean. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Most days these would be a standout hat, but today I’m bottom rung with this Stetson Sovereign Twenty. 2 3/4” felted edge brim and a wonderful gray with strong blue tones.

Boxing up some hats I found this Stetson 3X OR I forgot I had. I know I haven't posted this up before. Check it out @ size 7-7/8! Pretty rare & hard to find I would think.

J, the hat market is a crazy place. Throughout the years I've been buying hats online, I think I've bought one U S made hat out of Canada and I've never owned a Canadian made hat of any sort. My last two have come from Canada. Two different sellers. One made here and one made there. Both great hats but the one your countrymen made is a hat of the highest order. JMO. I am partial to a 7X CB. Thanks for putting up with me poking at you.

I put an auction pistol in Bob's back and took one home. I'm teaching it to wake up and stop slurring vowells.

Mallory Ten, picked up at a massive antique barn in a town of 3500... only real hat in the place, though.

I have not warmed to the rope. Perhaps there were horse thieves or pirates upstream on the family tree.

I do enjoy a felt that says we wear animals on our head. Kudos.

Indoor, poor lighting pics of a Beaver Hats off the bay. Should make a good foul weather hat. Nice, sturdy felt... not as good as my Stratton, but not as cardboard-like as some I've seen over the years. It arrived wonky and dirty but a little brushing and steam brought it into a workable shape.

The United States Post Office delivered the Penman homburg that I had commissioned last summer. A grey homburg like this has been part of my 'hat inventory' scheme since its earliest conceptions in 2008 or 2009, so I'm pleased to at last realize it.

Disappointing hat hunt yesterday, Fall season hasn't begun yet, so almost no felt to be found and one shop disappeared completely. Still found this though.
Hückel Special. Size 55 (but fits me fine actually) with the bound brim at 6,5cm and crown 10cm at the center dent. No labels inside the hat. Lightweight hat at 110 grams.

What fortune! My coworker was helping his father in law clean his closet, and out came this 100% beaver Stetson Baldwin! It is basically new old stock. Was given to him by a potential client, never worn, doesn’t fit him or my buddy, so now it is in my possession.
It was slightly crushed and a tad too big, but I have to say it is quite a first rate hat, especially after some fun with steam.
