Yeah BABY!
Looks great Steve. Lots of love in the FL for the Fed IV.This one can truly be said to have travelled over half the globe.
It started life in Australia, had a brief sojourn in Texas, and has now ended up in Denmark.
I don't usually buy new hats, but when Ken put this one up for sale, I couldn't resist.
Akubra Heritage Collection Federation Deluxe IV.
I've never had a virgin hat before, but I really liked the idea of being able to create my own bash from scratch.
The felt is still very stiff, so it still needs some more shaping work along with more steam. The brim especially. However, I'm quite pleased with the results so far.
Thanks Ken for taking the extra time to have this shipped to Dk.

Project hat? I happened upon this Worth&Worth "ladies beach hat". It looked like an interesting find and I snagged it for $25. The straw and weave look wonderful so lets see if I can get this reblocked and shaped more to my liking. Monticristi? I don't know, what does that really mean.

Magnificent hat and a great find, Steve. Looks like it takes on any shape with no effort.J. Hückel ´s Söhne "Alpha" "Seal Velour", French Point Size 5, Brim 2 1/4 inches, Crown Open 6 inches possibly mid 1930s. The greenish gray "Alpha" "Seal Velour" is fantastic and easily dry creases. Really like the contrasting blue Zig-Zag stitching on the silk liner. (Clicking on photos might improve resolution.)
Open Crown
With flash I don't see the green so light related.
A truly splendid hat, Daniele. Great work by Fleur as usual. The colour is very attractive.View attachment 180518
Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore size 6 or 7 3/8 US but it is less wide, so more a 58 7 1/4
There is no paper label because it was cleaned too much by the shop where it was purchased and it lost the Borsalino data

It is part of a Borsalino lot I decided to restore in the Penumbra hats atelier - Netherlands. I was intrigued by the very rare color of the felt. It was cleaned and repounced to give back the original color of the felt and the result is fantastic
View attachment 180520
It was made, from the seller indications in the late seventies, early eighties.
View attachment 180521
The measurements are: brim at 5,5 cm. crown at 10 cm. Plain felt and very malleable and light in a color that could be “Miele” or "Albino"
Ribbon is the original. Made in the historical Borsalino factory in Via Cento Cannoni - Alessandria

The interior is completely clean and ready to serve again.
A Borsalino as new in a wonderful color after some excellent work made by Fleur
Nice catch, Brent. I like the warm hue that one has.Resistol Milan:

Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore size 6 or 7 3/8 US true size
Third hat of a lot, along with the Super Barbisio, and second Borsalino bought in the East Italy
View attachment 180620
It is a bit out of order so it was restored by Penumbra Hat - Netherlands
View attachment 180621
It is of the great family of "Misto" so a flecked felt in a very light tone of grey with a hint of black
View attachment 180622
Made in 1981 it has the following measurements: brim overwelt with two seams at 5 cm. Crown 10.5 cm. Felt is very malleable
View attachment 180623
It was cleaned and stretched to return to the original size
View attachment 180624
Made in Alessandria in the last years of the Borsalino historical factory, it is in excellent conditions and a little gem in the "Misto" family
Nice shape and colour, Brent. The brim flange seems just right.Agnoulita in 100% hare fur felt:

I've bought a few new hats when I just got started wearing hats. When I discovered vintage hats I never looked back. Fine work shaping that one, Steve. This one can truly be said to have travelled over half the globe.

Thanks and same here, Stefan.I've bought a few new hats when I just got started wearing hats. When I discovered vintage hats I never looked back. Fine work shaping that one, Steve.
This Borsalino had some problems in the felt and color. Fleur repounced it in a wonderful way, so the color now is vivid. What do you think it is? "Miele" or "Albino"A truly splendid hat, Daniele. Great work by Fleur as usual. The colour is very attractive.
Stefan, I was unsure it was on you data about Borsalino colors and types of hats, but I waited your comment. And another deserving beauty restored. Beautiful, Daniele. Misto Fiordo is a new one we haven't seen before.
More steaming and shaping, shaping and steaming has lead to this a little more Indiana Jones style.Nice bash Steve, it really suits you. You could also go full on Indiana Jones with that baby.
If I had to call it I would say it's "albino". I think the "Miele" is a deeper and warmer colour. Marine was on the list of colours "unseen". Because those colours came from the rack of windcords, I suspect these were mostly windcord and ribbon colours (and perhaps some felts). This Borsalino had some problems in the felt and color. It is very light grey and the ribbon is "Marine" a very strange color
