Truth be told, I thought I wanted a bound brim, but the underwelt really rocks, and I couldn’t be happier!

I found some cool artifacts at the site of the LC Railroad (Railroad Depot Museum) with a metal detector (with permission).

I love this new hat I bought today. It is a Stetson Whippet Medalist JP. The guy at the store said the JP stood for Japan. He said the ones made for Japan have a taller crown. That is what attracted me to it. The brim measures 2 3/4. I paid $37 dollars for it at the Resistol outlet in Garland TX.

Good get. I know a couple of people who have one of those. They seem to be much nicer than the domestic ones.

New to me today. I am thinking 1960s Open Road. Does not appear to have ever been worn, The felt and sweatband are soft and supple. Other than some light mothing, the hat is pristine!

Tonak "Brillant", 58cm probably mid to later 1950s. The Velour has a fantastic finish and easily dry creases. The liner has a blue tint which makes me think the felt color could be more of a dark blueish black. This hat was made for the Czechoslovakian market.

Stetson No. 1 Quality

5 3/4” open crown, 4 5/8” raw edge brim. The brim shape (flared bumpers) is a result of forcing the 7 1/2 hat onto my 7 5/8 long oval head. The crown is soft and holds any dry crease I want to put on it. The sweat is soft and very supple, but the surface is beginning to flake off in places. I’m not sure if the band is original, and it isn’t attached and relies solely on the friction to hold it on the crown (I suspect it was added later).

Nothing new.... only wishing I'd got something. While in Mississippi, passed up a beautiful straw summer weight Stetson at Shankerman's in Clarksdale. And later in Memphis still another beautiful straw Dobbs at Lansky's in the Peabody Hotel. Too late now; man what was I thinkin'? Stupid is as stupid does.

Picked up the Knox Twenty from Buler. It got here today.
Not the greates photos but give you an idea how it looks. Very moldable felt. Really nice.
Like the 2 3/4 inch brim.
