Just arrived, 1970's 3X OR in dark gray. Dusty but in excellent shape, the best description for color would be Stetson's current Caribou I think. It was double boxed & came in the original 1965 Stetson Centennial box (not shown) which is only in fair to poor condition, but I'm happy to have it.

In need of some dust control & a bit of shaping before better pics will be taken.

Who is Ignacio?
He is my hatter in Mexico City, Alan. He is the only hatter left in Mexico City. He is 60 years old now, and he worked in his father's hat repair shop since he was six. He reblocks my hats while I wait, and puts them on his conformer. It takes him about 45 minutes per hat. If the hats are too large, he cuts a piece of the sweatband off, if they are too small for me, he adds a small piece. When I leave, I have a custom hat every time.

Customs seems to like the hats that are sent to me from across the pond. Hats within the EU make it to my doorstep without customs, so this one made it fairly quickly.
Barbisio in Carnagione colour. Twotone puggaree style ribbon. Bound brim at 7cm and crown 10,5cm at the pinch. It was listed as a womens' hat and without a size. I bid on it anyway, taking a chance and it turned out to be a size 59. It will be part of the next Holland-Italy exchange, because the ribbon treatment is different enough for it to make it back to its homeland. Nice very thin felt with a lovely soft hand. Would have loved it to fit me, but it will be right at home and in excellent and abundant company with Danieles' collection.

Love these big hauls. Kid in a candystore experience. Another hat vault in the works then?

I heard a rumor that Max @drmaxtejeda was building a panic room lined with the built-ins from the, now closed, Bernie Utz Hats in Seattle. When he feels stressed he can just step into the room and look at his hats until he feels better. :D

I know I would feel better looking at his hats...

I don't think I would: all of those great hats and none of them in my size! I like that idea of building a hat store room inside your house though. I'll tell my wife (standing at a safe distance).;)

Yeah, I'm starting to envision Scrooge McHat, sitting in his vault playing with them all.
