This is an interesting piece I found this week. Another Stetson made under license in Germany (don't find any for years and then two turn up within weeks of eachother). Stetson Stetsonian, size 58 in charcoal, 7x beaver felt. Overwelt brim at 5,5cm and crown 10,5cm at the pinch. The felt is really quite nice; very thin and dense, but with a lovely soft finish. Not a cheap hat in its day looking at the price.

Time to put the homburg nation back in front. More and more people here on the lounge are pulled in so it seems. Here's a lovely new addition to my collection I bought this week. I handled it three times before and left it, because it's another black homburg and feels slightly tight. But it was still there this time and apparently it was meant to be. Scotson homburg in black, size 56. Brim at 6cm and crown 11cm at the pinch. Lovely feel to the felt and it has some of the springy-ness I know from my nutria hat. The liner has that fine detail the older hat-liners have. English make and imported into Finland. The label doesn't ring a bell.

Scored this sweet No. 1 but the sweatband is loose and missing rear sweatband bow.

Any suggestions on who to send this to for repairs? I want to keep the sweatband if at all possible.

If the sweatband is in good supple condition and the stitching to the reed is still strong it should be a relatively easy task to resew to the hat. You could try it yourself, or ask one of the hat hobbyists around here to help you with it. Looks like a great hat.

I remember when those feathers were so popular during the seventies.
Ever observed turkeys in the wild when the toms actually line up to "display" in front of the hen & she picks her mating partner? Well that's exactly how it was every night during the Urban Cowboy days of the late 70's - early 80's. Those were great times! When the macrame hatbands came out in the mid to late 80's to get the hippies to buy hats it was all over; the hens were no longer interested.

Johnny Lee. Haven't thought of him in some time. I remember those days. Bars seemed to transform overnight from disco to line dancing. Never wore the feathers, though.

There is just something about a Homburg......I am strongly attracted to them, own a few, but seldom wear them, not sure why because they are my fave hat design. Even in black!

I had one band that at least 3 prairie chickens gave up their lives to make. Besides the chicken feathers it had a red-tailed hawk feather, a squirrels tail & badger claws. I had lost a cousin in Vietnam, both my grandparents a couple yrs after him & for about 10 yrs I was totally out of control. It's really a wonder...

Very cool Stefan. Love the color of the liner logo. Different from the USA Stetson logos.

Beautiful black Homburg. Very interesting brand name. The old style typewritten mfg tag is cool. It has some age for sure.
