Hut-Seidl München "Garant" made by Mayser Ulm, 60cm probably mid 1950s. Very high quality felt that easily dry creases. Also I really like the ribbon width and hat form. Hut-Seidl München had a strong historical connection with Mayser Ulm.

Just came in the mail today. Vintage Biltmore. How vintage, I cannot say. Anyone have any ideas?
Light mothing that I might be able to brush over. And a wind cord the seller failed to mention, pleasant surprise! Of my 40+ hats, only one other has a wind cord.
Biltmore hasn't disappointed me yet. This is #4.

My last acquisition, the vintage Sombreros De Luca, made in Argentina, probably 60's, but can be older. It has a frayed bow. Mint condition, my first black fedora. I couldn't find any information about the hat maker.

The second addition is one I just had to have. What can you do? Negretti bowler. Negretti is a sheep-variety of the distant past, so a woolfelt. Steve (Mayserwegener) has one too (of course he does). Size 57 with the brim at 5cm and the crown at 12 cm. I comment now and again that I would buy a hat for the liner alone, but I rarely do. This is one of those cases though. It's colour purple makes me wonder if this might have been the pope's leisure hat. When it arrived there was so little life in it left that for a moment I thought it was a homburg. Steam brought it back, but it's not nearly as stiff as other bowlers I have. Interesting is the designation "Real Russia" on the sweatband. I suppose this refers to the leather that was used, but I'm not sure. There's a tiny hole in the front brim and some damage to the brim binding. Very interesting if only for historic reasons. Very old, but I'm not certain which decade exactly. No label inside the hat unfortunately.

A very intertesting bowler. That hole can be repaired. Good work in bringing it back to life.

Michael Gannon's The Highwayman

I want to get pics in better lighting before posting my new Gannon in Michael's thread. It is really a beautiful hat in natural beaver. But here it is right after arriving today.

This pic actually shows the overall shape best but the natural light was coming in at my back & I was blocking it, causing the exposure to be too gray.

It's really hard to say, I couldn't find anithing about the brand.

50s was my assumption as well. Biltmore has apparently existed since 1890.
Wonder where all the really old ones are...

Here's some pics of the Hückel and Rockel that arrived yesterday in the Second Great Netherlands-California Hat Exchange. Stefan has posted them beautifully in the German and Austrian Hutmachers thread, and his photography skills far exceed mine, so I will let his work speak for them in the archives.
Here's some sunlight pics.

This one resisted a pinch, even with the negotiating skills of the Jiffy, so I decided to let it be traditional.

Here it is with it's travelling companion.

And just the Hückel:

Like I said to Mike, that bow plucks my heartstrings like a washtub bass!
Best part about the trade is knowing three nice vintage lids are now back in use and being enjoyed rather than on a shelf gathering dust.

Love the color on that Homburg. Apparently, it wants to remain Formal. It really looks good. Is the felt firm? That Mayser gets my heart jumping too. That ribbon is a showstopper!

That blue color is just one of the great things about it!
The felt is firm but not stiff or overly heavy. Weights 133g total.
It will take a pinch, it just is resistant to the nice deep pinch I like on a Homburg.
The Hückel does have some presence with that bow.
