Hey, Jeff!! Good to hear from you, man!Wow! Really inspiring stuff here. Congrats on all the new lids. KY-- the optimo looks very fine. So classy.
Dh-- there's nothing like a vintage Dobbs Milan. Looks b forward to straw weather sooner than later...
Esther, that's a great ribbon and very comfy looking sweatband on that beautiful straw weave.

Hey folks!
For the last month or so, I have not had much ebay luck. Almost every at I've seen that I liked was way more than I wanted to spend, or like Dinerman's rollable Stack and Fruno's Stephen L., I missed by 1 dollar.
Grrr.
That thing is sweet, Dale! Nice score!

Yeah, I set a limit on what I would spend with shipping. On one hand I was bummed that it wasn't quite enough, but on the other hand, was glad that I have developed some sort of impulse control, especially after losing out on the Stack.Aww, man! That was a nice hat. I'm truly sorry you didn't get it. The brim was just a tad short for me.
Another 7x Clear Beaver that turned out too big. I found the tag and stuffed sweat after I got home.

It's a crapshoot with used hats. I'll tell you that when they're taken care of, vintage hats seem to fit more true to size. I don't like the way new off the self hats feel on my head. Weird, I know. Maybe it's just some made-up thing from my subconscious. Haha. Custom hats are different. They can fit your noggin perfectly, when done right.Andrew (Skip) , I'm 58.5 cm , always wore a 7 1/4 , but I have no memory of what brand , I think Stetson . My first Resistol put me in a 7 3/8 LO , rain and improper storage it shrank , but I got a stretcher or 4 , and got it back to fit , then rain soaked , and proper drying on my noggin and finishing with the sweat turned out , shaping , never better . But I bought a brand new Stetson (6X) OR 7 3/8 , too big , sizing tape , still too big . Still haven't messed with the sweat , either I'll try water and a hair drier , or let Major Moore at Buckaroo Hatters see what he can do . ... What have you found about size differences ? Is it hit or miss ? The difference between my Stetson OR , the Resistol , and Akubra (a little loose at 7 3/8 , but tolerable) have me worried . I had the chance to exchange the Stetson , but just let it go , bought from a western store on-line , that the owner is really nice , I've seen him on here , pretty sure ; West of Houston . But it had nothing to do with him , I haven't worn it except to try it on from time to time trying to think my best bet ? Its like a whole size too large , guess I should have exchanged it for a 7 1/4 , then I'd know . Do Stetsons run larger than Resistol ? I remember when I bought the Resistol (back in the 80s I think) and was surprised I wore 7 3/8 . I figure eBay is hit or miss , I guess I might need to invest the bucks and try Custom , and get it fitted , no guessing . ... what is your size ? Is it different between Brands ?
Nice Hat , by the way ...
