A couple of rainy-day projects I picked up at the thrift store.

The western is a really nice color. It has a 4" brim, for now anyway.

The rolled up one is what appears to be lower-grade Panama. I don't think shantung rolls like that, or has an edge like this, although I could be wrong. It has happened once. Big floppy ladies' sun hat, hoping to be able to turn it into something a little closer to my style. The grommets are a bummer, don't want to remove them for fear of a great unraveling.

Now, we just need some rain so I can start.

For $35 I'd say you made out like a bandit! I do agree with RBH somewhat that fedoras are more your style, but in my opinion that Schoble doesn't look bad at all. :eusa_clap

I think it looks good. Sometimes it takes some getting use to to see yourself in another style. My wife's not too fond of me in a Homburg, but if I wear them enough, it will look more natural.

yeah I somewhat agree that it is not really my style ... it is a really nice hat though in nearly perfect condition

I think with the proper attire it would work on occasion

I think if I wear it casually with say ... jeans and a T ... it will feel less 'mafia'... less 'Churchill'

I dig it though ... and for the price ... you can't beat it

You're already rocking that style. Moon. Sure, it's a change, but with such a nice lid, you WILL find your mojo under there! And as a brown (not black, gray) you're starting out a bit on the more casual, or day-to-day type of Hommy. WEAR it proudly, my friend. YOU CAN.

+1... a style that had a brief fling in the mid 1950s. Nice to see some new Schobles.
