Good evening gentlemen and scholars of the Fedora science, today I would like to share my newest eBay acquisition, a very nice The Golden Ivy League by Stetson dated April 22, 1966. It's a nice straw hat with great construction quality and in mint condition. Please shine some light about this Stetson Series if you are familiar with it.

Echter Borsalino, 5 1/2 inch crown open, brim 2 1/2 inches, size 6 Point, very good condition, date stamped May 18, 1929. The felt is very soft / light weight with a unique very wide ribbon and bow design. It has an fantastic over welt that doesn't allow snapping. The sweatband and silk liner (unique color) are of the highest quality. More details in the Borsalino Brotherhood and German - Austrian threads (worth taking a look at).

That one looks really nice Steve. Beautiful looking sheen to the felt, and I like the thin vertical on the bow. It looks mint.

I just received two hats that I am very excited about because they are right up my alley

first a gorgeous Lee.... Open Road style that looks to be 1940s to me ... needs a little love and reshaping but I threw in a quick bash for the pics

this thing is so amazingly soft and floppy ... the felt feels fantastic in my hand ... also looks 40s to me ... if anyone has a guess I'd love to hear it

I have a beautiful Marathon 40s or 50s box that I will pull out of storage tomorrow that will be this hats new home

oh it is... it had a teardrop when I got it which made the crown a little too low for my liking ... so I'll be working on getting something higher to look natural and try to lose the ghost ...

The box thing can get maddening. After months I just paired a Disney with a Disney box, but not just any box. The hat had a 3 inch brim so it had to be a big one!

I just went into the closets and "thought" I had a Whippet box. Darn it. I do have a Whippet in rich brown, but it's in a Stetson square 1950's box. If I find a Whippet box I will send it to you. Lord knows I have so many hats I'll never wear them all out. Actually, it's almost impossible to wear them all "out". I tend to always get a favorite. My Dobbs or my Dunlap...40's vintage.

moontheloon, that Marathon is more than likely a 30's hat. It has the old marathon logo, old style size tag, and appears to have an unreeded sweatband. If it is 40's, its super early 40's, but more than likely a mid-late 30's hat. I have owned several early 20's and 30's Marathons and they are spectacular hats. Marathon hats were produced by LEE, so they are very high quality. Once you apply some steam to the felt, the floppiness will more than likely go away and the hat will stiffen up to its original feel. It could still be a light weight hat, but the "floppiness" you described is more than likely because the shellac just needs to be reactivated by some steam. Great find!

This A'n'A Original isn't "new" to me, but I recently made it for a friend of mine, so it will be brand new for him.

I still have some final touches, like softening the brim edge, but other than that it's done. He's in the coffee distributing business, which doesn't really reflect on the hat that much (unless it resembles the frothy top of a cappuccino); he wanted something nice to wear to work and while visiting customers. It is called, "The Barista".
