Possible Navy Double Mackinaw Coat Opinions?

I got this today with some other navy items from WWII. I am a little puzzled by this coat its a double mackinaw that has a USN style stencil in the lining at the bottom portion. I see no evidence of a tag to suggest is a Filson or something.

I was wondering if anyone has seen anything like this or perhaps clue to in to its origins if its civilian or a transitional piece.

Stencil doesn't appear to be of military origin, but then why a stencil if it isn't military?

Check all of the pockets for a tag. Often they are hidden there.

I wear a Bemidji Double Mackinaw and your coat looks reasonably close to same. Perhaps it was a mil spec'd coat by small supplier.

I noticed that when I looked. The lining in the back pockets are the same material I see in issue 40s peacoats and with the part that is painted with a name navy style.

The grouping came with a torpedoman coat, deck jacket and navy watch items.

Does it have handwarmer pockets behind those patch pockets?

Hmmm, Almost looks like a HD Double layered CPO rather than a Mackinaw, I've never seen a Mackinaw w/o slash hand warmer pockets although seems typical of a CPO. Does it feel/look like a blend or all wool?

It sort of does remind me of a CPO. Yeah no hand warmers just rear like a Mackinaw. Material is wool feels the same exact material as an 40s issue peacoat. That rainlike resistant wool.

I didn't spot the rear cargo/game pocket at first, that is a bit of a oddity, Double CPO with game pocket?, new trend maybe? Perhaps some one had it made by small supplier like Johnson or Bemidji or Mil spec'd with mods for specific purpose. Fabric sounds like a bonded or boiled Melton wool, Neat coat BTW.
