Here's a link to a reasonable range of American findings, I hope it's of some use:

(they are the only American findings company I know, I'm sure there are more, but these must be well known for a Brit to have heard of them)

I priced up the cost of making watch chains from new components once at my local suppliers - it is more cost effective to buy complete 2nd-hand watch chains, all those bits soon add up!

Interesting thread though, thanks for the pictures. I'd like more chains, but I'm on a tight budget - 7 pocket watches and 1 watch chain is annoying, I'd like a range of fobs etc as well as a choice of watches.

I really wish that there was a sharp, about-face in men's fashion these days. 70 years ago, men knew how to dress, and we valued our accessories. These days, we have cheap, two-dollar watches, jeans, sandals and singlets, whereas we used to have suits, hats, ties, gold and silver watches, Albert chains and signet-rings.

*sigh*

Where did we go wrong?

I'm proud to be one of the few men out there still brave enough to dress how he feels, not as he's told, and to regularly wear a gold watch and chain despite what fashion dictates.

Shangas, I fully agree that we are gradually losing our traditions, both family and otherwise. Thanks to the Lounge and other traditional fashion sites that allow us to refocus on the fashions of the 20s, 30s and 40s.

For me, Sunday is church and dress up day. I always wear a suit or sport coat attire with tie, vest, cuff-links and my double Alberts with watch and fob. I will try to post photos each week going forward
