I have an early 40s model without it and a 50s model with it.... now to see a 30s model with it...

I stayed out of that conversation because I was not sure and did not want to take sides. But now that you asked.....I believe the stitch went away in the war years because it was decorative and served no real purpose. I have a Playboy without the stitching that I can show tomorrow. Just my two cent, I don't have to be right about this.....
