There's one more difficulty - the leather trench coat - but nobody dares go there. Nobody.

Au contraire, dear boy.... I have one somewhere. Bit tight to wear other than over a shirt these days, but if I can find another decent one, I'll be in it. Best thing I ever had for rainwear (and noone under fifty ever mentioned the Gestapo; anyone younger thought of the Matrix first).

I vote for CR with a pair of slant chest pockets, with exposed zip metal teeth on both pockets, and if they allow it a pair of snaps on the upper chest to anchor the collar down like lapels.
Oh, exposed zip on the chest pockets would look gnarly.. I like it.. going on my list of specs  Would be even more so if the zipper fabric would be a matching vine colour to my planned lining

Now that you all have filled my head with the righteousness and glory of my impending jacket order (with details to be ironed out), I feel that I must at once begin to make plans towards justifying the purchase to my significant other. Surely she will see that it is indeed a splendid notion, one might argue that is in fact essential to my very existence...?

Buy a Vanson Chopper, that's a cross zip with a cafe racer collar. Both those Aero jackets look cool, if you order one you'll just end up ordering the other eventually, it's inevitable. Welcome to the pit...

If you are interested in a chopper, I may have one.

Leather pants?

Mn. I have a pair somewhere (10" smaller than my current waistline, mind - it was a long time ago!) that I picked up and wore as a costume (they were a tenner, so....)a couple of times, but they certainly weren't something I found comfortable. I think if I was going to do a very long bike run in the right climate (and with proper bike trousers) it might have been different, but no, I've never much cared for the look of leather trousers as a fashion piece.

I think leather caps are the ultimate difficulty. Very few go there.

I have a couple of Stetson eight panel caps in leather; one is a brown hogskin, the other a smoother matte black. The hogskin is much 'easier' to wear, though the black I wear a bit too (primarily with textile jackets). Very good in the rain. As a rule ,though, I would tend to agree that leather headwear can be difficult to pull off. I'd love an Eastman B5 flying helmet, but it'd be hard to wear that on the street without appearing excessively eccentric, I think....

I think a CR is more versatile and can be worn in more situations. You can look cool as hell in a casual setting but can also probably pull it off in (some) business casual settings as well.

On the other hand, the cross zip style jackets are probably a bit "cooler" and "edgier" however if they have an attached belt, I think their use is a lot more limited to only casual wear unless (1) you wear it all zipped and belted up all the time or (2) you're 20 years old and match it with your skinny jeans at work.

Having said that, I think a cross zip without a belt (like a bootlegger) is a more versatile than a true Motorcycle style cross zip.

Either that or I just don't like belts that are permanently attached to jackets .... yeah thats probably it.

I don't like belt that is permanently half attached because it mostly buckle off center, I know it is a cross zip jacket and all the things on the jacket are off center, but off center buckle still looks off to me in photos. ( i don't wear MC jacket too many asymmetrical features my mind can't handle)

I'm just kidding, people, nothing wrong with a leather trench coat. I personally wouldn't dare wear it on anything other than a really sharp suit but otherwise, it can look cool. Just not my thing, is all.

Yeah..I have a leather trench coat as well Raven although mine is beltless. I've had it for years and wear it on occasion. I don't see anything 'daring' about it especially if worn over a nice suit or sport coat...and some of us do wear them.

That was actually my thinking behind buying it -- could wear it on occasion when I wore my suit.

As @Monitor said earlier, the Langlitz Cascade might be just the ticket. An undeniably cool cross-zip cafe racer. Seriously, check one out.
