I live several states away from DelMonico's but had always wanted visit as I've heard so many good things. Well, this holiday season I had the opportunity while visiting family in the area. As is perhaps a common sequence of events, go in wearing one hat, walk out with a couple more. In my case, on a rainy day in the Elm City...
Inbound with my trusty Akubra Campdraft Deluxe in Bluegrass. The gentleman even gave this old hat a steam and brushing.
Back home with my new Stetson Premier Stratoliner in Mink, Long Oval, first casual pinch. My goodness, the picture doesn't capture the richness and depth of the shade. It's lush, luxurious, and gorgeous. I also tried an Excellent Strat in Sage. For me, the step up wasn't worth it. And no Stratoliner pin!
And my girl got a little something too in the form of a Bailey's wool fedora. She even asked me to give the front a pinch! Daddy's gotta be proud.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience and nice chatting with the staff. I highly recommend a visit if you're ever in the old town.
Oh, one question for you folks. Do you remove tags? I'm referring to the large tear off stock tag sticker. The information is replicated in the other part that is behind the sweatband.
