You are right Oliver. I was actually quite disappointed. One short chapter on hatting, consisting primarily of profile photos of hatters. It was interesting, but I had expected much more.

That's what I had thought, perhaps. If so, it is pretty funny because it sold for over $200...

Here's something interesting. It took a few minutes to figure out what these are, but I believe they are probably heels for tap shoes. I haven't looked the brand (Olympic) up yet. Anyone else seen this?

Those are in fact heel taps. They are still worn by drill instructors on their combat boots to keep the heels from wearing unevenly from all the marching and sharp turns teaching close order drill to recruits (not to mention striking terror into said recruits when heard approaching down a tile floored squad bay).

Thanks for the confirmation. I had thought that's what they were. I love to see such ingenious uses for devices.

This was done by Ted Lee of TopHatters in San Leandro. He was a pretty savvy fellow, and I'm learning new (old?) tricks just by looking at his tools!

Edit, if you have a complaint sir, please bring it to my attention in a PM.

Thank you

Thanks for the support fellows. I'm not asking for a ban, and don't think a few grumpy comments warrant it. I'm just asking for some self-restraint.

Edit: John, I have handled this issue, and everyone, please be mindful that "self-restraint" is a two way street.
