Seen something similar by Zara this winter. There's that and a thick woolen sweater that's cut exactly like those leather sleeves. And yeah, it did look good.

Interesting colour combo; looks almost military, in a sci-fi way: I could imagine this being part of a uniform in a Star Wars unit or similar franchise.
Not really a jacket, but I had no idea these leather sleeves were a thing, they are basically chaps for your arms!
I wouldn't wear them but i think it is quite a cool idea.

I can sort of see a practical implication for these, but for me they're a sort of cross between Wez in Mad Max 2 / The Road Warrior, and Mariah Carey does post-apocalyptic. (Needless to say, neither of those are exactly style icons....).
Yeah, it would match very nicely with those boots Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman. (Maybe it would even help to draw attention away from her and Gere's appalling acting and total lack of chemistry?)

THey've been around for a long time - they're called a 'Shrug', I'm told, and they're basically arm-warmers for women wearing a sleeveless evening dress who get cold arms but don't want to wear bolero jacket....

Looks hefty but soft... I remember back in 94/95, there was a UK TV show called Roughnecks, about guys working a (fictionalised) oil rig off the East Coast of Scotland. Ashley Jensen (Extras, Ugly Betty) was in it, and I remember her wearing a Perfecto-style jacket in this sort of colour. Looked fantastic. I think something like an Aero J106 D pocket or a Lewis Lightning would look superb in this.
This I really rather like. I'm keen on the idea of a jacket like this in textile, have been for a while. Not seen one in leather before, but it has a very cool look that could fit in a multiplicity of time periods, imo...

There probably are a few out there somewhere. The Rocker boom was long dead by the 70s (even the Ace Cafe originally closed in 1969, not to be revived until 2002), but Lewis had a second period of riding high when punk rock came along. Many punks wore old rocker jackets (this was in large part how the patch and studded leather jacket made the jump from rock and roll biker to mainstream attire among non-riding rock music fans), one example being Sid Vicious' Lewis Dominator, a jacket he wore for far more of his short life and musical career than the Schott Perfecto for which, in the US anyhow, he seems often to be better remembered. Under the influence of both Paul Simonon's family background (all bike-riding rockers) and Bernie Rhodes (manager, who had his finger well on the pulse of every British youth cult from the post-war years onwards), the Clash boys favoured Lewis leathers, Lightnings especially. This all led to a revived interest in the brand, and is certainly where the 'fashion' side of the label could be said to have truly begun. At the peak of this, in 1978, Lewis were pushing all sorts of colours for their leathers, even including canary yellow and blaze orange, promoted as 'safety' features. I'm sured I've sen a few in this sort of green, and they look great. Canary yellow and orange don't look so hot in photos.... interestingly, I've never seen one in the wild. I'm guessing they didn't come close to the popularity of navy or black....
Interesting notion. There have long been jackets cut for off-road motorcycle racing that are cut without a collar, like a Shackleton. In theory, it wouldn't be hard to attach sleeves to the basic shape of it, though ironically I know one thing that Ken was very wary of when they designed the Shackleton was making it look 'right', not just a like a jacket with the sleeves pulled off. I know when t comes time for me to order one, I'm going to have to decide on a leather back or no; I would prefer all-leather, but don't want it to look like a jacket with the sleeves ripped off, rather a form of waistcoat.... I'm seeing it worn as a warmer-weather alternative to a jacket, possibly even for casual wear with the kilt.
