I would remove the snow from time to time.
I never been in that weather but I do believe at some point the cold of the accumulated snow freezes the hat and your head.

A walk in the drizzle this morning with my Akubra Stylemaster.

Thought I had a break in the rain. Turns out I ws part right. Right after I rreached my turnaround point in my daily walk, a light rain started to fall. I could have broken out the umbrella, but I decided to see just what this 60's Knox had in it. Besides my head, of course.
As I walked the 2 miles back home, the rain got a little heavier. I ducked into a store for a couple of minutes when a bolt of ightning hit close enough to make me worried about how tall Inwas compared to everything around me. Finally, got home with this on my head.

Liner is bone dry. People can knock the quality of felt post-war, and I would not disagree that the felt was better in older times, but this impresses me. I know this was probably some of the better stuff Knox was putting out at the time, as it has a felted edge, but that water resistance is surprising.
Now I'll feel more confident leaving the house without my umbrella on these damp days.

Thanks scotty. Looks like we are going against the flow here...most start with smaller brims and go wider as they get used to the style. As for me, I don't... disbriminate. I have everything from 1 5/8" to 3" and a couple of 4" brim Westerns.

Forecast called for rain and so, it became a Camp Draft day by default. Three blocks from Independence to "E" Street.

Wore my Dingo just to see for myself how well Akubras hold up to the rain.
Quite well, as I have always heard!

Just as good as an umbrella!

Wore my Collins & Fairbanks vintage derby in a heavy rain shower today. When the rain drops struck the hat, it sounded like rain hitting a tin roof or a small drum. An hour later and the hat has shed most of the water.

I had an interesting interaction in the parking lot at the office this morning. I came in the lot and headed toward some likely spots nearer the entrance so I could avoid some of the rain. As I got closer, a person in another car sped past me to pull into one of the closest spots. No big deal, as another 20 feet of walking won't hurt me. I suppose they've gotten used to having to be more aggressive to get spots at the malls during the holiday season?

I pulled into a spot a few slots down, grabbed my backpack and bag, climbed out of my car and headed to the entrance. I looked back and saw the other driver struggling with an umbrella, computer bag and purse, likely getting wetter than planned as she worked to hold all her stuff.

Glad my Stratoliner keeps me dry enough from car to door without the need to sorry about an umbrella. My jacket sheds the rest. The other driver was still trying to get her belongings gathered together in the shelter of her car by the time I reached the door to the building. Can't say I didn't smirk a bit.

I'd already been at my desk for a bit before I thought to take a daily head shot, and the hat had already dried quite a bit by then. Not sure how dry the other person might be...

Braved some pretty hard T-storms last night taking my betrothed to dinner, but the Akubra Fedora laughed it off.
