All is well here Brent and Robie and I appreciate your concern. I've been having trouble receiving some emails after I upgraded to Windows 10. I'm working on the problem, but nobody has been able to figure it out. For now it's best just to pm me here. With just a month into my "semi-retirement", I've actually gotten busier at the treatment center due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We've tried to minimize risk and exposure to our staff and clients, but we have 60 men living on our campus that have no place else to go. I'm spending a lot of time there covering for other staff members and am more behind on my other pursuits than ever, but I will plug along as best as I can.

P.S. I just sent you both an email to see if latest "fix" did any good. Please respond if you receive it. Thanks!

It's truly a nice, densely felted hat body. A little too thick and a little too stiff, however, I'm looking forward to beating the hell out of this one to see what can be accomplished.

Some time ago I took a commission for two "The Son" hats. It was my first attempt at bound, pencil curled brims so I had some trepidation, but the fact that the brother in Illinois was buying identical hats for himself and his brother in Arizona clinched the deal. I can always get behind some good, old fashioned brotherly love. I hope they like them and wear them in good health always.

I really appreciate when hatters share works-in-progress photos. It helps with the wait and builds the anticipation. I know it takes a bit of time, but it’s these little things that set these hatters apart.

As the brother in Illinois, I can attest that we do both like them. Once I have a chance to steam and shape the brim a bit and figure out how to post photos again, I’ll give you some shots of the hat in the wild.

It’s the same pewter, but in different lighting. It’s not nearly this dark and the earlier photo is closer to being accurate. Rick said he didn’t find a shellac core and he’s going ahead with pouncing it thin for me. He tested a part of the brim trimming and unlike Winchester there isn’t a shellac core that you have to worry about if you pounce the felt to thin. High hopes for this one.
