Yesterday I went to the local hobby shop where I had the honor of meeting Ed Pepping, Easy Company, 506th PIR, one of the original "Band of Brothers" who was doing a book signing. He signed copies of Band of Brothers and We Who Are Alive and Remain: Untold Stories from the Band of Brothers. A very nice down-to-Earth guy who's quite knowledgeable on a range of subjects. I picked up a signed copy of We Who Are Alive and Remain. Here's a few pics of the event.

That's awesome! I met Ed this summer at the birthday party of (sorry I can't recall at this moment) one of his friends and fellow soldier. He gave my son a bunch of stuff from his briefcase and talked with us for about 30 minutes. What a super sweet guy - and a handshake like a vicegrip! As usual in those situations, I teared up when I met and thanked him for his service and being so kind to my son. When they say "they don't make 'em like that any more", it's true. Thanks for posting - I'll have to put out pics up too.
BTW, when we were just in Normandy and all the towns where our men landed, you would not believe how much love and respect they still have to this day for these men. It really blew me away. On visiting St Mere-Eglise, you see the memorial for the "hanging soldier" John Steele at the church in town. There's even a stained-glass window with all the symbols of the men and USA in the church. The bronze of Steele with the 'chute stuck in the steeple really is hard to look at...
