Penman Temple of Doom Indy Hat.

Hello all. I am thinking of purchasing a Penman ToD hat. Sadly, a hat that I recently purchased from HJ, a Crusade Poet, looked a bit silly on me I was wondering if anyone here had experience with this specific penman hat? Will it be as boxy, tall and stove-pipe like as a Crusade poet from HJ? I would appreciate your knowledge and wisdom. Thank you

It probably will be a similar look. It wouldn't be an Indy hat if it didn't look like that.

Why not try a hat with a smaller crown and a brim binding? Are you only interested in a fedora or will a thin ribbon work for you?

For a cheaper price than you'd pay for a Penman, you can get an excellent quality Northwest Hats in pure beaver and design it how you want.

I still think you may warm up to the HJ over time. I used to post on Club Obi Wan quite a bit and quite frequently people were overwhelmed by their Indy hats at first.

So my first suggestion is to give your HJ another go.

My second suggestion would be to reach out to John. He's....well, I don't want to say he's unfriendly, but he can be a bit gruff sometimes. But he has been doing this Indy hat thing a long time and has put a lot of people in them. He knows his blocks and many here are not personally familiar with his work IIRC.
